The car’s been around long enough, with enough of a history. It doesn’t need to be compared to anything else. Anyone who doesn’t know that is a clueless dimwit.

I like Porches. I’d never buy one myself, but I like to look at them. I just don’t see how anyone could look at a Z and think “Porsche”. That’s like looking at a computer and thinking “Television.”

Illiterate meaningless nonsense. Made up words that mean nothing. Don’t sweat it.

It's a (Nissan/Porsche) sir... best one yet, IMO. I'm going to use it next time I hear someone say nice Porsche. I'll follow up with a... didn't you hear, they merged and created this! Mmmwhwhahha!

My Base model Z with only tint, side clear markers and a 245/295s on 19" VOLKS has gotten so many people confused, its hilarious. Most are like WTF is that...?? I proudly say it's a NISSAN... I love the deer in headlights look best!!

I've gotten enough compliments from M3, Porsche, S4 Audi owners that I have no complaints that it's a NISSAN. They all paid there respect and they all know what it is... good enough for me.

Anybody who thinks the 350Z's look like Porsche's are stupid and shouldn't own either, much less try to "sell" it as a porsche.

yeah when i got one of the first new gen mazda miatas back in 98 people kept
asking if it was some new rx-7. i used to have a porsche boxster s and loved the
car. but honestly, between the two i would pick the Z hands down. don't get me
wrong porsche makes an awesome vehicle but i think the Z has more character.

porsche/ferraris are all nice but i don't like the idea of how they scream "i have so
much money in my bank account!" also you can never tell if a porsche or ferrari
owner is a legit enthusiast or a poser trying to make a statement. which sucks
because it's such a waste of car to buy just for the money statement.

No I don't feel bad.

I do feel bad that Porsche took the last seven years to finally understand that they took the Porsche style out of the 996 back in 1998.

I actually test drove a few Porsches. The Boxster was the only one with some classly looking lines still and it was almost as fast and responsive as the Nissan and only ran another $20,000.00 than the Japanese product.

Any real truth to that, can anyone back that up with a link? Z lines look like old Z's, not like Porsche, Porsches havent changed the look of a toad thats about to jump.

The timing on this thread's return couldn't be better...On the Saturday of July 4th weekend, I went to a meet up in Maine. There were 9 350z's there, along with one Lotus Esprit turbo. On our way out of the park where the meet was, we heard at least 3 or 4 people say "hey, check it out...nine Porsches and a Ferrari!"

The first time I ever saw a Z, I thought it was a Porsche. It was in the parking lot at my law school, which had a couple Porsches, so I didn't look at the emblems too closely. Took me a couple walkbys before I looked at the emblems and realized it wasn't a Porsche.

The only question I've ever gotten was "Your car is beautiful! What kind is it?"

At the time I hadn't had the car for too long, so I just looked at the lady, smiled, told her it was a Nissan and drove off.

I can sorta see the Aston Martin comparison. The lines are similar...so if you didn't see the badging, you might make that mistake.

Well, I own *both* and think there's definitely similar styling to both cars. For example, with a couple slight body changes, the Fabulous kit IMHO shows how similar the 350z looks.

The proportions arent quite the same as a porsche. The roofline declination, door height, the back end, especially the windsheild incline - not the same. IMHO.

In porsches there is no smooth transition from hood to the cockpit, its an abrupt incline. Dont dig that.
