I plan on buying an 05 or 06 Z, but as I was driving with my Dad today I saw a Silver Z Roadster(top up) on the highway. I was like hey, thats my next car...thats the car I'm buying. He said "is that a Porsche? Looks like a porsche...good get it so I can drive it too (In his Broken Italian-Engligh)"... In my head I was thinking I don't know about that. lol

I have a 89 911 porsche and the z will kick it's butt any day of the week

Porches are over priced sports cars. I am into one thing only.. performance, I could care less what the badge says.

I guess many people here are Nissan and/or at least Z fanatics (I admit, I've never been). I had to make a choice a long time ago whether to buy to 280z or a 914 (maybe it was a 944, I don't know, it was a long time ago), but anyway, I chose the Porsche and never regretted it.

The basic design of many current Porsches has been around since the early 60's (before that if you count the 356 design) and has been relatively unchanged.

Meanwhile, the 1979 280zx isn't my taste (and as I said, I was glad I passed on it years ago). I couldn't stand the 1984 300zx, and was interested in the 1990 300zx for a bit but never got one (got a 911 instead).

To me it looks *similar* (not the same), but that's probably what I like about it (why it appeals to me). I don't mind that people think it is a Porsche, nor do I mind that I see some simularities in the cars. I like it.

With my kit, someone told me the other day that they loved Z's and mine looked as exotic as any Ferrari. Well, that's their feeling and why would I mind that comment? I agree

There's definately a "separated at birth" look between the two cars.

I had my car parked next to a 996, and while an enthusiast could tell the difference between the two, the average person would assume that they were different years of the same car.

I've mentioned the similarities to some of my Porsche friends, and after they get over their indignation and look at the car, they admit that the cars do look very similar.

However, the 996 has four seats and more interior space. I'm jealous!
