Leaving work last Thursday for a long 4 day weekend, I stop off at 7-11 in Dallas, TX to pick up some beer and supplies. As I walk out of the store, a white worker van pulls along side the passenger door and he is close. Before I can say watch it, the guy opens his ddor with out looking and "whammo" right into my door. Here is the dialogue:

Me: You hit my door
Idiot: What...Sorry it was an accident
Me: Take a look at that scratch!
Idiot: It's not that bad...Doors get dinged
Me: What are you going to do to make it right?
Idiot: What?
Me: Make it right door dinger
Idiot: What?
Me: Give me $20 to buy touch up paint and time and labor
Idiot: What? Your an a#$ hole
Me: And your a door dinger and I need justice for all other door dingers like you.
Idiot: Here's your $20. A%$ Hole!
Me: Now don't you feel better for making it right

I laughed all the way home. I ended up giving the $20 to some girls doing a car wash for charity and who wanted to wash my car. Yeah right, you aren't touching it but good luck in regionals.

One for the good guys I suppose.

 

Just 20? Hell I'd go for 200.

It is funny because some people say I should have got more and other say I was lucky to get anything. I like the skull ding idea or a tire iron to his windshield. Oops it was an accident. I just feel good that I saw it happen and extracted some justice. For all those other times we walk out and see a door ding and have no closure this was alright in some strange other worldy way.

 

My door ding cost me $125 to remove, and it was very small with no paint damage.

 

My post was little deceiving. Not dinged but chipped the size of a match head. Door dinger is a generic term I use.

 

Should have gotten his insurance info, then filed a claim to get it repaired. Not only will your door get fixed, but the bozo's insurance rates will go up possibly making him more careful in the future. If you can't get the insurance info, take down his license plate and a description and file a hit and run complaint against him with the police.

Carelessness is one of my pet peeves, so I'm all for going the extra mile to deal with these jokers.
