Your Z came tinted from the factory? You must know someone big in Tochigi. Impressive!

In most states it's a fix it ticket. Doesn't go on your driving record and insurance could really care less until a accident happens.

Then the other side might use it to say you didn't take all precautions to avoid the accident and modified the safety of the car..... etc...

My sister got pulled over in VA (way before they instituted these ridiculous fines) and the cop made her rip off her tint while he was writing the ticket

I was pulled over a few weeks ago the same way. Just had got out of my apartment. Turned the street, I was looking for my wallet in my car as I drove, it was late at night. Driving slow, I turned onto a main street, cop pulls me over. First says I was driving too slow and it looked suspicious, checks if the car is mine, because I had forgotten my license which was in my wallet. Takes about 15 minutes, starts chatting it up with his buddy cop, because yes, he called another cop.

Then comes up to my car, and tells me that "also" my windows are tinted, and that he'll just give me a verbal warning. So, I didn't have to remove the tint, but told me another cop might stop me and tell me to remove it on the front windows. Anyway, he was a very cool cop if anything, just looked suspicious I guess that I stopped turning on a green light.

Also, it's weird because to be honest, there are a ton of cops around my area, I have only gotten pulled over once on my Z.

Hmm... must vary big time from state to state.... In CO here... I have had something >35% all around (except for windshield) on my Rodeo.... Its black.. and looks 100% better with black windows... driving it for about 5 years now... only been pulled over twice (not for tint) and dropped the front windows each time. I understand the safety issue for the officers. I guess maybe they appreciate me dropping the windows or maybe just don't care...
When My black 08Z gets off the truck in December, I have to get the tint almost immediately. Living in CO I feel like I should be ok. However the Z is about %1000 more noticeable then an Isuzu Rodeo... so who knows.

I have limo all the way around and when I pass a cop I put the windows down. Partly so I don't get caught and party as a courtesy to them to show them I'm not hiding anything. Only once has anything happened to me.

In CA I was driving, saw a motorcycle cop ahead so hit the windows. He pulled out, jumped into the HOV lane and ran up beside me and yelled "You know, if your tint was legal you wouldn't have to do that." Then took off. Put a smile on my face.

Your are a lucky one. Last time I had limo tint. I saw a cop and I put down my windows. The motorcycle cop I got still pulled me over and gave me a ticket. I wasn't a jerk. I didn't say anything. He didn't say anything except "Sir, can I have your license and registration. I'll be right back with your ticket so you can be on your way."

That was many years ago. Like twenty-five. Oh well, live and learn. It's just not worth getting pulled over for tint. It makes it hard to see out at night anyways. I still tint legally to keep temperature and fading down and it doesn't look bad at all. That way I only have to be extra careful backing up. But, brighter backup lights help a lot. ;-)

Curious - Has anyone been pulled over for tinted tail lights or smoked reflectors?

Need to correct myself.
Hmm... I realized that I must be wrong with 35%.... I was misunderstanding how tint ratings work... as I hear it...
So, the % is a % VLT and wikipedia gives us :
visible light transmission (VLT)... meaning how much light can get through.

So... im down in the 20% range. Whatever the case.. I need to find out for sure.. have the tint person check what I have now so I can accurately order the right kind.

man its maryland just don't do anything stupid to give them a reason to pull you over. You might have accelerated hard or looked directly at the cop. I thought I was f'ed for tint in germantown a cop pulled next to me and I went real slow and he just paced with me for 5 minutes. weird

Hahahaha

Just keep calm when you see cops!
I passed about 10 cops today and none of them stopped me for having no license plate. I got worried for a second when they were staring at my car but luckily they just drove off!

In my acura I had a tab attached to the window fuse, Id put down the windows and then pull the fuse if I got pulled over...when they tell me to put it up I just said "it doesn't work" and let them try. Worked 3x

LMAO !!!

if i remember correctly, he didnt come out and blame the cop outright. he merely chose the description(of the cop) he did because the cop was a little psychotic when he pulled him over...

i've had my Z since March of 03. i've hesitated to get any tint just because of this hassle. plus i'd rather not have a front license plate than to get tint; getting tint would just be another reason for a ticket.

no way dude. a cop always takes the first copy of thie ticket with him, which means that the ticket they you get is only the copy of real one.so if u changed anything on ur ticked, they would know!!
