Default Super Black or Dayton Blue?

I am trying to decide between the Black or Blue Z. I like the Redline but red seems to be the color of the 90s. I like the Crome Silver and the other Silver but every freakin' eclipse in this area is one of those two silvers. Anyways, I have heard the Black is extremely hard to keep clean and gets swirls from hell. I have owned only one vehile and it was red so I don't know about black paint maintenance. Thanks for any help.

the only scratches I have are on the front of the car, and they are from cones. I haven't got a clear bra yet and autocrossing sort of leads to hitting cones.

I have only hand washed the car twice, all other times have been with a power washer and a good presoak. When I have hand washed I used a microfiber cloth and washed in straight lines, not swirling motions. No scratches thus far. I also don't have any sealant on the car, I have to get Crystal Guard put on it Monday after my next race.

black. no biased opinions here.

oh black is a PITA to keep clean, if your not ready to devote time atleast every other week, preferably every week, to wash it and atleast a GOOD wax with something "deep"(Z5 or blackfire, cg wont do) once a month or so. thats the only way your gonna enjoy the color.

my opinion, and the opinion Ive heard from others, that black is the best color when its clean. and its 100% true, its keeping it clean. but its not impossible, just gotta work for it.

ask yourself if you are willing to give the time and effort to have it or not. cause nothing looks worse than a brown/black car.

ares- I have no problem washing the car every weekend and putting in the time for a waxing. So you think zaino and blackfire are the best choices for a sealant? I had thought about getting crystal guard but what do you think the problem is with it? What do you use? How would I avoid swirls when washing and waxing? I could see getting a clear bra for the DB but for the SB? I know there are a lot of questions here but I would appreciate your answers ares. Thanks!

go SB!! heheh.. i agree with ares.. its a nice color if you keep it clean and shiney. I've heard ppl say my car looks sexy when its just waxed. BTW.. i use Blackfire and it really brings out the "deep" shine. As for swirl marks... it hard to avoid them. Just buy some Microfiber towels and keep your car clean with a quick detail spray. On black, any dust or especially fingerprints really show up easily.

I use zaino, tho I use Z2 right now, but that was a mistake, Z5 fixes swirl marks better, but isnt quite as shiny, they say its a "deeper shine" we'll see I guess.

Ive heard great things about CG, except that it doesnt do a good job repairing swirl marks... no personal experience with it for that reason, sadly swirl marks are a fact of life on a black car, all you can do is try to lessen them, and cover them with a good wax.

Everything s9am_me & ares said is correct. I myself also have a Super Black Z & love it. But the love is hard work, if you choose black you will have to clean weekly...swirl marks are a pain yes, but black is just black. When it is clean & looking sharp it's a beast, a sexy one.

You can't go wrong with Daytona Blue either though, very nice color on the Z, not as beastly & sexy but beautiful nonetheless. Blue is more of a cute thing, then black. j/k, it's up to you.

EDIT:

Oh ya, I also use BlackFire...it's great.

DraveL- how does your 3M clear bra look on the front? Does the black contrast make it more noticeable?

Not at all, you can't even tell it's there unless you get up real close & start looking for it.

And as I saw you said you could see getting a clear bra for DB, but not SB...should reconsider...ever Z need a clear bra. My clear bra has already saved me from many nixs & scratches.

Thanks- I just figured since the SB is darker than the DB, it would show up like seran wrap.

I really do love the way a black car looks clean, but can you honestly say this doesn't look just as good?

BTW, I LOVE my car.

Hee Hee. I love winning. I'm all about Zaino.
