my 06 z was my first mt, and i had no previous experience, my advice is let off the clutch slow until you get used to the high sweet spot

We will all laugh if you stall the Z

But seriously, just practice feathering the clutch with the gas pedal. The more you do it, the better you'll get at it. And drive in heavy traffic or uphill roads, that's when you do the most learning.

The Z was my first Mt car. It isnt bad at all the learn/drive. It has a lot of torque and it a blast. You will get the hang of it quickly.

practice first gear, that is the most difficult gear.

also, get to know when the clutch engage. without gasing, let go of the clutch pedal slowly until the car starts rolling and get a feel when the clutch grabs.

good luck!

p.s. avoid hills !!!

Rev it to 7000 rpm and slowly let the clutch out. You will never stall!

I think someone posted a thread of "how to drive a MT". I have been driving standard transmission for a while (okay, so only 3 years), and I found some helpful pointers in there. It's mostly about feel, but there are a few things you can do to prevent clutch abuse. DO a search for that thread.

I practiced on a hill going up and then down and up down up down down up blah blah blah.

Another tip is pressing the gas before you let go of the clutch, you can do it at the same time once you get good at it.

Chances are you will over rev the car but that better than stalling it. I had this problem when I first got the car but adjusted really quick. Practice makes perfect, drive it around the neighboorhood or empty lot. GL with the z

My first car was a stick. Then i went 9 years with an auto until I bought my 6M Toyota 4 years ago. After I bought the car all the salesfolk come out and shake yer hand and wave as you drive off. Well, I stalled it in front of everyone

Youll be fine.

Walmart or Jc penny parking lots ~ full day of practice should make you ready to take on the road.

heh...that is embarassing o.O...

anyways...feather the clutch...dont just drop it...you should be okay...and also drive with confidence...and becareful of the hills...

honestly my advice to go an empty parking practice and then practice getting use to the high catch point...then move on to practicing on hills...

Avoid hills especially the ones with a stop light at the top.

dont avoid hills. i bought the 350z 2 days after i drove my first manual car. it is going to be easy to learn to drive it on flat roads, especially since u said u know how to drive a little already. your practice will be when its difficult... hills and in traffic when you have to stop go a lot. BUT MAKE SURE ITS A TRAFFIC FREE HILL... DONT WANT PEOPLE MAD AT U OR U ROLLING BACK ON SOMEONES BUMPER LOL
