On average there's only 0.2' seconds between the coupe and the roadster 0-60 times, if your going to mod the engine then stock 0-60 times won't matter...

The Roadster is around 180 lbs heavier, so the coupe will have a small advantage in the handling department, but I don't think the advantage is big enough to base your decisions on that alone.

I would test drive them back to back and see what you like... As far as all the comments about the Roadster being feminine, this is probably coming from guys who are insecure with there pinkie sized manhood and need a coupe to make them feel better about themselves.....

If you plan on doing a lot of track racing then I would probably get the coupe, its just safer...

The Coupe is always going to handle better.

Depends on what is most important to you; handling or looks/droptop.

Most important: get home safe!

I drove a 35th Anniversary Coupe for 9 months and have driven a GT Roadster fo the last 2 years. The difference is not drastic at all.

I have one of each although wider and better tires on the ZR than the coupe. Personally the difference in handling is not even mentionable on a highway or even mountain road. The acceleration like someone said is about .2 secs but I easily hold my own on any mountain road with any stock or near stock vehicle. So to go to a track of any kind I personally would pick the coupe, but riding hard through the Dragon means I will be in the roadster. If I could only have one and there was a beater, I'd take the roadster every time. If it had to be my DD, I would pick the coupe.

really though, if you get down to it, you could make the roadster lighter, i mean, its already missing its roof, then just pull out the soft top, motor, support beams, it'd be lighter than the coupe. Not saying it would handle better, and i am saying its a stupid idea, but you could do it

ZR's are fugly. Coupes are sexy.
your opinion

Who cares if the weather is nice. You're supposed to be paying attention to the road and how your car is ripping up the competition.
if you know anything about racing a car you don't keep you eyes glued on the road or your competition, its about listening/feeling your car, and my car will only be driven in nice weather so i care about nice weather

As far as I can see, there are nothing but negatives for roadsters.
again your opinoin, how old are you again?

Did I mention they are fugly and a lot of women drive them?
as far as women driving a nice car, i've seen women drive 600+rwhp track cars and would spank you around the track all day long in fact you probably got owned by a chick already, so like i said how old are you?

and thanks to those few people that actually read my post, and answered it without going on how the zr is ugly, haha, .2 seconds isn't that bad, with some mods, weight reduction, and practice with the zr i will be fine, thanks again

I personally have the coupe and i love it. The main reason I bought the coupe is because i'm 6'4 and its my daily driver. The coupe has more headroom If I were you I would test drive them both on the same day so you get to experience both back to back Then it comes down to which you prefer better and which style YOU like better. In terms of performance like you said you will be modifying it, it just comes down to how far you want to go. A roadster with a good suspension will handle just as good or better then the stock coupe and most likely better then you will ever need it to be. If youre still not satisfied you can always put in a roll cage to make it even better. Unless you will take it to the track a lot I dont believe you will go with the roll cage option. Acceleration wise if you put 3.9 gears inn I think you will be just as fast as a stock coupe and faster then stock 03-05 350z coupes since you have more power out of the box with the updated motor. Most cases NA it will be up to the driver and who has the most bolt ons If you go FI then its just who has the better tune, better motor, more boost, and etc......... In my opinion it just comes down to which car YOU PERSONALLY prefer and not what anybody on this forum says. In the end you are the one making the payments.

On the more serious note be safe, return home, and enjoy which ever new Z YOU decide to buy

My humble opinion...I have both cars.. the coupe and the roadster. And there are various reasons why I think the roadster is a better choice...
Performance, they are just about the same... about the weight, replace some parts with carbon fiber and you have less... check Seibon, they have just about everything for the car...
Looks, you get more looks on the roadster than in the coupe...by far. besides, beauty is in the eye of the beer holder is a matter of choice.
Handling, they are about the same and if you want better handling just make changes with aftermarket parts.. there are plenty out there.

It all comes down to a personal preference, what is really important to you? Nobody can answer that better than you.

For me there is no feeling like putting the top down during nice weather and still have the power you need whenever you need it.

I attached some pics...

Stay safe out there. Hopefully you will come home soon. Take care.

Again thats your opinion of which you are entitled too.

Who cares if the weather is nice.
I do.

You're supposed to be paying attention to the road and how your car is ripping up the competition.
If I cared only about speed I would not be driving a Z.

As far as I can see, there are nothing but negatives for roadsters.
Unless you like the look of the convertable and want a convertable as I did. Big negative for me for the coupe was the fact I could not put the top down.

Did I mention they are fugly
Yes you did, and again thats you opinion.

and a lot of women drive them?
Meaning what? That I am so insecure about how masculine I am I care if women drive my car? If you are really that insecure about yourself that you avoid a car because "women drive them" I recomend some ***** enlargement pills. That might boost your confidence a bit.

Don't get all EMO Overlord. Coupes are ugly, heavier and TYPICALLY a lot of women drive them. There's a reason why more people have coupes- because they are the superior car.

Having the top down so you can feel the sun on your face and the wind in your hair FTL. lol.

You must also complain about the noise the tires make as they roll on the ground. I don't mind. Besides, I can't hear it when the turbo is spooling.

yeah i'm not gonna let somebody on a forum decide what car i'm gonna get i just wanted some input from people who have driven both to see how they felt about the difference between the two and as usual people couldn't resist opening their mouths and start bashing come on people grow up, anyways you have 2 nice cars wish i could have 2 like that lol, thanks i'll be as safe as i can, again thanks for all of those that gave good insight on their experience between the two, as far as i'm concerned this thread is complete

Go for the roadster!

I have owned both the coupe and roadster and the only one in my garage today is the roadster. The coupe is a very nice car and i loved it for the 2 years i had it, But driving the roadster for 1 day with the top down is better hands down. The roadster might not have the same looks as the coupe guys would wish but thats the reason its a convertable and not a coupe. At first i didnt like the looks of the top up but it def grows on you.
