Well, the rear window's never caused me problems. Once I was exiting the freeway as someone was entering. I slowly started merging right when I noticed someone whizzing by at the last second that I hadn't noticed when I looked over. Luckily, nothing happened, but when I got home I moved the passenger seat forward so the headrest doesn't block my view out of the tiny window just aft of the door window. Now, when I glance over, the blind spot's nowhere near as bad...

I was really expecting this to be a problem after reading the reviews, but then I was surprised that it's not a problem. It's easier to see behind me that my other two cars were.

Nothing compares to the M-Coupe, though. It's like driving around in a bubble. You can see everything, and everything can see you.

If you look over your shoulder like you are supposed to do changing lanes, you can see what you need to see. Also, adjust your mirrors correctly.

After about 2 days, I didn't even worry about the rear visibility. Totally used to it.

I learned to drive using my mirrors so the view out the back is not important to me. The cross brace is well below the window line and really causes no problem. I've been driving sports cars with very limited view out the back for almost 30 years and after a week or two, you'll forget there ever was a problem. I did have to install a very light tint to my rear window as the glare off the cross brace in certain weather conditions was driving me crazy.. It's now fine.

I find that a left shoulder check is completely useless (I'm 6'3'', maybe height has something to do with it), so I have to use the mirror, and to get an equivolent picture of what's around me. I have to lean foward to kind of get a sweeping view through the mirror. But there is no one place I can put the mirror that let's me see everything I need to...

I'm only 5'8 and the same applies here. It's pointless looking over your left shoulder. I lean down and look at the mirror, like you said.

I'm 6'1", and I don't have to lean foward. I can turn my head 90 degrees, and between my peripherial vision and my properly adjusted mirrors, I have no problems seeing in the blind spot. This is an issue I thought I'd have, and after minimal driving time, it is a non-issue for me.

Hmm, seems like most of you have never owned a panel van or a truck with a camper like myself. I have had to drive with mirrors only since 1995 and most of time 1973 until 1995 with various trucks I have owned with camper shells. Actually, I would not know what to do if i had a clear field of vision out back! You get use to a lot of things and if driving a Z has limited rear visibility then no problem for me.

I was used to driving my mom's LX470 (big *** lexus truck) and then I got in the Z I was like WTF?. But after 3 days of heavy driving its not a big deal at all. You just need to adjust the side mirrors. Once you do that everything is godly...

I've driven wreckers and dump trucks. Maybe that helped, as you say

Just remember the side mirrors are your best friend! Its hard to judge the distance by looking into the back window.

while i don't see the rear view mirror as much of a problem, i am a bit bothered by the side view mirriors. They are small (as sports cars are ..which makes parallel parking a pain.
I used to put those little glued on 'assist' mirrors on the passanger side mirrors so i can see how far i am from the curb without adjusting the P side main mirror.
But if a glue the 'assist' mirror on my Z, that would eliminated too much of the viewing surface of main mirror.

fortunately, i don't parallel park much in the Z

In the 8 months I've had my car I never really had a problem.

Until yesterday.

During my afternoon commute, as I was merging from HWY 85 to HWY 17, I slowed down a bit to allow a small white convertible to pull over into my far right lane. I then merged left into the lane he had just left. As I accelerated past him, a toyota Camry started to pull into my lane from the next lane to my left (she was just a tiny bit ahead of me - 1/4 car or so). I had to step on the brakes (imagine that) and swerve back into the lane where the white convertible was. I ended up straddling the two lanes in order to avoid both the Camry and the other car. I think this was the Camry's fault, but maybe I missed them when I started merging over.

Then today, almost the exact same thing happened. I was merging to the left, did the signal, mirror, headcheck thing, and as I was 1/2 into the lane I hear a beeb and look back and there is a Green CAMRY merging into the same lane from the opposite side. I never saw him signal either, and he was behind me by about a car, so I'm pretty sure he was just being pushy, but with two questionable merges in two days I have begun to question my abilities.

So now I just merge slowly so others can get the hell outta my way!!
