I drove on a open road course in the rain with the windows down for fun.

And ran over some orange cones in a parking lot.

But nothing beats drag racing. For those brief 14.77 seconds I am free.

I wish, but haven't made it to Buttonwillow yet. I will never drag my car, I don't believe the was made to go in a straight line. We aren't driving mustangs or Camaros.

Make it up to Laguna Seca if you can (since you're in CA). Definitely worth the trip.

Fontana, Willow Springs, Sonoma... all in Southern Ca. I have to believe they have open track days with a nominal fee and possible professional instructors sponsored by local Z clubs or Nissan/Infiniti dealers.

I've hit these only once:
Streets of Willow (completely stock vehicle... maybe I had the Nismo LSD already... I forgot)
Buttonwillow (New front brake pads, Nismo LSD, GY F1 GS-D3)

And done multiple Auto-X's in Atwater with Fresno SCCA.

My plan for 2008 is to get a set of brake pads and rotors to use exclusively for the track so I don't eat through my daily driver pads (and to make sure I get home after the track). After Buttonwillow, I had no rear brakes left because they were still the original pads.

Had it out one weekend over the summer.. open diff though. Sucked so bad I bought the Nismo when I got back. I had the EBC yellow pads which worked out pretty good for non Brembos.. Did the grand slam weekend at Pocono; 5 tracks, one driver, priceless. lol
The Z is a fun car at the track, but I made the mistake of running Pocono's long course. I was going about 145 and still getting passed like woah! Dam new Z06's
I used to have an integra type R, that was my track *****...

Only on the 1/4. Road courses and AutoX eats the life out clutch, brakes, tires, everything.

I've run with the SpeedVentures group a couple of times. They hit all the local tracks.

I think the 1/4 is worse on the clutch.

On some Sundays I slowly drive to visit the God of my choice, but I bought all my Z cars to test my skills and the Japaneese engineering from Datsun & Nissan.

Like anything exciting in life it costs to play........I like to play Ricky racecar when I can.

I take my Track 350z to SearPoint, Laguna Seca, and Thunderhill often.
Upgrade the swaybars and tires and you have a great track car.

I autocrossed (one or two a month) for two years on the OEM brake pads and tires. When I changed brake pads, I still had about 50% left. The new pads got 18 months of autox, 6 track days and have about 25% left. Admittedly, tire wear from the track days is relatively high but all things considered it was worth it.

If you can shift a car, then there's no more wear on the clutch in an autox or track day than driving in city traffic.

There's no way on earth that you can claim that the ¼mile puts less stress on your clutch and drivetrain than any other form of motorsports. The launch alone claims more clutches, transmissions and rear axles than you're willing to admit.
