The first manual I had endured 4 people learning to drive, I downshifted most of the time and when I traded it in at 98000 miles it was on the original clutch.

For those of you who stop in neutral, what are you going to do if the brakes fail?

Boomer is right after you've riden a motorcycle for a while you see all the practical reasons for downshifting through the gears. When i'm riding my bike i even leave it in gear at red lights and hold the clutch in, and i always watch the cars approaching from behind. Getting rear-ended on a bike will definately ruin your day. Besides that i use every opportunity i have while stopping to practice my rev-matching and toe-heeling.
