Default Do I seriously need LSD????

Limited slip differential that comes with the enthusiast model.

I dont drift, I dont live in places where it snows or ices a crap load.

However, this is my first RWD car.
(and my first manual car. >.< i hope i dont stall on the way out of the dealership next week)

I read about the LSD and about how i can be on ice and road and step on it and itll go like regular but the power will be reduced.

eh. This is true? If so, I guess I dont really need it and ill save like 1-2 grand. (and put it into some neon lights, aluminum gas door, aluminum wings, 22" rims, 4 fart cans for quad exhaust, and NOS stickers) jp of course.

You don't need an LSD. I can induce a nice drift easy enough without it. The open diff almost serves as a safety measure sometimes to keep the rear end from sliding too much.

I don't drift and it don't snow here either but I sure wouldn't want to drive a Z without some sort of LSD. The Z has significant power and it helps to put it down through two tires rather than one.

In the end, it all depends on what you intend to do with the car. If all you ever did was putter around on the street, then no LSD is certainly an option. If you plan on taking it to any kind of track, then LSD would be preferable. I suspect it you live in hilly or mountainous areas, it would also help in getting up a steep incline on a wet day.

BTW - keep in mind that the most common complaints from base owners are 1) lack of LSD and 2) lack of cruise control.

I thought I was gonna stall out when I drove the Z for the first time today. Even tho I drive stick. TRUST ME. You won't stall. It's verrrry hard to stall that car. Or so I've seen. It's easier to stall a civic. As I did bout 30 times the first day I drove it. (My first time driving stick).

Take a look at the inside rear tire. You can see sunlight between the tire tread and asphalt. Doesn't do much good if the differential puts torque to that wheel does it?

Yeah man, you've got an LSD. It's not the best one ever, but it'll do just fine if you dont track your car/autox too often.

He knows he has an LSD with the Enthu. I believe he's questioning whether he really needs it or not - as in going with a Base model if he doesn't really need the LSD.

Been driving sticks for 25 years. Killed it on the test drive with the salesman in the car. No biggee. Just means you're human. Yeah, I felt like an idiot, but it wouldn't be the first time.

I would go for it and get an LSD. It is worth it, inner wheel burnouts suck. If you plan on driving aggressively at all its a necessity.

I would suggest getting the enth.....i got a base and although i love it, sometimes i wish i would have waited and gotten an enth instead....for all that you get with it, it's definitely worth it for the money imo.

Finally somebody agrees with me. I can induce a drift (only at a race track) easy enough without an LSD and most people think my car is modified when I'm at the track! It's fun as hell to tell them that it's a bone stock base edition and watch the look on their faces! This guy with an AMG SL55 (or something like that) thought I was heavily modified because I passed him every session!

I can't wait for next season. I'm going through withdrawal now.

Just go with it.

That the traction control is nice in wet weather.

Plus, noone wants to buy a BASE model anything...You always want a few perks, and LSD should be one if you buy a sports car.

Personally I don't want traction control and all of those VDC issues. I like the base model because it's as pure of a sports car as you can get in a 350Z. No electronics to interfere with the experience. The Lotus Elise doesn't have an LSD, is it not a sports car simply because it doesn't need/have one?

The only option I wish I had was cruise control and the Brembo's. Otherwise the base model is perfect.

I would get LSD. You could probably drive the 350z without it fine and still enjoy the car greatly. However, in the future, when you want to put more power to the ground, you'll be glad to have it.
