After driving mine in the driving rain storms we've had here in the Pac NW this week, I can say without a doubt, the Z does just fine in the rain as long as you drive with your head. I pushed it a couple of times and discovered a new idiot light next to the rev light that says "SLIP". I now call it my, "Don't be an idiot light.". With the exception of one large puddle, the car did fine. Now, comes the washing!

Drove mine in 3 inches this week & zip problems!
Good luck driving it back home. Hopefully, you'll take those breaks you speak of. You're right:There's no need to rush back to work. This should be considered a good vacation. lol.
You should pay an expeditor....
This time last year I gleefully volunteered to drive a 6 speed brand new versa from Rob Green Nissan in Twin Falls, ID back to my store near Seattle (1250 mile R/T). Paid stopover in Sun Valley FTW, right?
WRONG! WHAT A DISASTER!
Sand on the roads pitted and ruined the paint on both the Versa and the Pathfinder chase car (1200 each at the body shop for front end repaint), and the larger rocks mixed in with sand dented the side panels + wheel arches. Both windshields broke and the pathfinder literally had to find the path for the Versa (which is not a bad snow car) through the Blue Mountains in Eastern Oregon.
Looking back on it, that was an epic automobile adventure. I even have pictures I can dig up and post. My store lost its shirt on my old demo pathfinder, and the versa owner elected to drive the car as-is so as to avoid paint issues down the road. Had those been my personal cars I would be very sad, as making them right would have cost upwards of 2,000, and then the cost of fuel, etc.
Throw in the 350Z's miserable snow performance...
If you must drive, apply Blue painters tape to every surface you can see looking at the front and down the sides of the car from the front and plan on a new window.

I MADE IT!!!
Just got home 15 minutes ago - and ALL IS WELL!
The 2005 PPW looks brand new (only had 8K miles on it when I picked it up - now it's got 9K.)
Thanks for all the posts and suggestions. I'm glad I drove it - amazingly enough, even though there were ice storms all over the midwest, we managed to miss them all. Actually the worst part of the drive was the last block up the hill to my house - the snow hadn't melted yet, so it took a bit to get up the hill. But now my new baby is tucked away in the warm garage until the snow melts and dries up.
And for never having even test-driven a Z, man what a fun ride it was. On the perfectly dry parts of the drive - I was just having way too much fun. Why the heck didn't I get one of these YEARS ago? I see why all you freaks are so addicted to this toy! I guess I'm one of YOU now!
So - 13 hours in a new (to me) Z... priceless.

Anyone have any suggestions? I will be driving it from Illinois to South Dakota, so one never knows about the weather. But I don't know which would be worse - trying to get it on a trailer and then pulling the trailer in possible bad weather, or having to drive the Z in bad weather for part of the drive.
Weather looks ok right now, but one never knows.
Thanks for all suggestions!
