Im buying the Z without a test drive?
I bought my Z from pictures on autotrader. It was in Ohio. Never drove it. I did go to a dealership after I bought it to see how it drove. But I knew that mine would have a different drive than a stock one. I love my Z.
There's a guy here with a Neon that wears a 2 Fast 2 Furious jacket every day. His crayon---er...Neon is bright neon (hah) green, with green window tint, two autozone fart cans, a bright green dash and seats, green wheels, a black hood, about a gajillion stickers, and green underglows. Oh yes, and green tinted headlights.
It's enough to make one want to beat him to death with a bag of used tampons.

I wouldn't be worried about light poles. Curbs are a different story.

I actuallt bought mine from michigan when it first came out. And I have never drove it before, They dont let you test drive sport cars. I know it sounds wired . but thats how it is. I didnt really care about driving it, I just knew I was going to like it and I did.

I've bought mine without a test drive. Matter of fact, didn't even know how to drive a manual so I had my brother drive it off the lot, lol. Yah, I know, it's not the best idea to learn to drive a stick on a nice car. I've gotten a lot better and even managed to track it couple of time without much damage.
As long as it's a new one with a warranty, doesn't make much of a difference.

Just before buying it I drove mine for about 10 minutes with the salesman sitting next to me. All it did was confirm my expectations as to what the car would be like. My mind was made up to buy the Z before I drove it. The drive was just icing on the cake.
hell i pretty much did i took a quick spin in an auto. never drove a 6spd i guess i trusted my fellow z members
i never regretted it one bit still love it as much as i did the day i got it.

hahah that sh%$t is funny i was getting ready to buy mine and i sighned and evrything then my wife was like wait you havnt even test drove it yet. i was so into just getting a z i completly forgot.
my Z was my first manual. i had zero clue about driving one. i asked my good buddy who is a car enthusiast to test drive my two choices, Z and the RX8. He drove both and said hands down to buy the Z, so thats what i did.

aint nuttin but a g thang... GANGSTA!!
My car prior to the Z was a Mazda6 (bought brand new) with 5-speed manual. A month prior to picking up the car I spent about 1 hour with my uncle in his Hyundai santa-fe with manual transmission, and that was the only time I drove a manual before picking up the new car. During that month in between I did a lot of thinking about how the system worked so I could be mentally prepared for what my hands and feet would have to do. As silly as it is while I was driving around my automatic ford taurus for that month I would push down my left foot as though I was depressing a clutch pedal and move my right hand as though I was shifting when the tranny shifted on its own, so that I could get used to the motions. Then on the day I picked it up I ground 2nd gear once (let the clutch out too fast) and only smelled the clutch once. Of course it was a bit of a jerky ride home due to inexperience with engaging the clutch, but I got home. Then I went out to a large parking lot for an hour later that day and fine-tuned my 'skills'.
The Z isn't really much harder to drive than the mazda6 in my opinion. The gear shifter feels more 'notchy' so make sure you get it all the way into gear before letting out that clutch, and you should be OK.

when i was looking to buy mine i got an offer from a dealer to buy one that was on a different lot, ofcourse i said no. Actually with some choice words added in. Bought one from a different dealership the next day. It wasnt even ready for sale, it was all dirty and in the back behind a bunch of other cars. When i test drove it, it had brake probs but i went ahead and signed on the line with the promise that they would fix everything. Got the car a few days later, cant complain. Was so excited that the brakes were fixed and i got a z that i missed a few little things, but oh well.
