SO WHAT?! it's an unfair world....you have people who get things easier than others....
some parents like to buy their kids things...whether they're a "rich kid" or not, it's their parents' decision...

The world is a tough place to be in alone, but man we are having a fight over sports car ownership when there is people that havent had a bite to eat in a week, sleeping in the rain, no showers, will probably never own a car and pray they dont wake up the next morning! Come on less worry about this stupid stuff its the holidays, be around loved ones and EVERYONE be thankful that you have people that care about you and have homes to sleep in and food to eat when you are hungry.
Someones green with envy. Who cares? And besides all the rich kids at my high school drover 330s. Granted that was like 6 years ago but still thats probably the car to have nowadays anyway.
why cant we all be friends here? come on now
and on a side note, i am 20 and have a ZR but i make payments on it on my own now my dad did put a down on it but still its more of a reward thing, for keeping good grades in school.
i remember back in high school a kid when he graduated got a full rotc millitary scholarship so his parents went and bought him a new Z and a hummer from all the money they had saved up for his college..but they werent rich

"Son, I think it's time you got a nice car, how's a Nissan 350z sound?"
"No thanks dad, I'll take that Honda Civic over there."
... I'd take it if my parents offered me a free car
Thread = fail

I don't think their is anything wrong with buying your 16 year old kid a nice car but at the same time probably buying your kid a brand new 350z or a pretty fast sports car is irresponsible by any parent. As you can see many examples on this forum of kids wrecking them. One is Nick Hogan himself trashing his supra. Its just asking for trouble, at 16 I don't think you have the driving skills to handle a car like a 350z let alone a lotus, porche, Ferrari. I always told myself being 25 now when I get older and have kids if I have the money I have no problem buying them a nice ride in high school but it would be maybe a V6 mustang or V6 camaro, new civic something towards that caliber of power. At that age no need for the extra power but still I nice ride for 16.
i agree with johnny blaze. I think its irreponsilble on the parents part. I have a friend who when turn 16 got a cadillac cts and flipped it 6 time when he was drunk going 135, so than his parents turn around buy him a is300 which he sold and got a 05 vette.
but the point is, in high school sometimes its about status especailly in some rich HS's so parents buy their kids cars like that for status
its weird how the world works

MrWatchDawg yeah it's almost like a competition to some parents in high school who can make their kid the coolest. I had this one friend that his mom would find out every month when the Air Jordans would come out and she would take the day off from work to go buy them. He literally had every pair. Now I know this is shoes but it seems like now parents our buying their kids higher end cars just make them look cool or something like the care for their kids more because they have an expensive car. Nothing wrong with a 16 year old owning a brand new car but a brand new Ferrari your just asking for trouble.

Give them a whipping face down flat on the street next to the nice car whenever they get a ticket? Make them memorize the payment paperwork when it comes home? Make them mow the lawn before they take out the nice car for a Sunday drive?
Just trying to give you a hard time bro haha...but it's hard to spoil kids and have them appreciate at the same time...
To the OP: The world is like that, it's OK. Don't lose sleep over it. Just watch out for kids with fast cars and slow skills, there're tons of them

And to the OP again: $2000 car is a real piece of crap dude. I think I agree with your statement, but it's probably more sensible to put a $5000 cap on it. $2000 cars, except in the case of a well-kept Civic, are more harm than good.
