Default horrible accident ...

totaled or not? insurance ... double or gradual increase? it seems as if all that's messed up is my front and rear bumper, my driver side fender and door, and my radiator was broken ... the cars starts up and goes into all gears without a problem, no instrument cluster lights go on either.

regards,
tyler

...............................

Your Z is probably going to be saved depending on the extent of damage underneath that's unseen.

Hey If you want to part it out, I can really use the Plastic that hold the radio, and nav in place.

Its an insane feeling to see someone minutes before they meet their end. Glad your OK. Could have been worse.

Dude unless there is something you did not disclose, it seems to me that the kid out front started to drive irresponsibly and you (maybe) started to drive irresponsibly as well. You both crashed but you crashed into something softer. I don't really think it is your fault. From a technical standpoint (not a human decency standpoint) even if you were tailgating him and egging him on, it's ultimately that kid's choice to start driving irresponsibly.

I know this won't really help any guilt you may have, but from a legal standpoint as long as you did not drive the guy off the road then you should not be guilty of anything. I am assuming that is why two separate police reports were filed.

i would be very choosy one what you say and describe about the accident untill things are settled. The wrong word choice could easily come back to bite you later down the road. I would edit your post slightly, keep the pictures and wait for feedback.

Not totalled unless there is severe under carriage damage. The air bags are the most expensive part. 6-10k to fix.

Your rate probably wont go up much at first. Since your 18 your insurance is probably through the roof already so there is only so much than can raise you. Believe it or not, they do have a cap on what they can charge legally. If that set price is affordable or not is depending on your circumstance. If anything though, it will go up all at once probably 3 months after the fact. Good luck with things, sorry about your loss bro.

yea tell me about it ... i honestly just need time to myself, i'm being seen by a counselor as well as a couple days away from work, luckily it's winter break and i finished finals the week before.

as for the undercarriage, it seems fine, not bad except for my anti-freeze leaking.

Since this post was made before the edit, I'm going to assume that the OP killed someone in a Honda Civic. This will not end well.

Good thing you edited the OP. I read it before the edit and I had a feeling a flame was about to go down. Still sorry for the loses. Prayers for you and the other person's family/friends.

Sorry for the lose.

Regarding the Z, it will need some bodywork, but could be saved, don't know what the insurance company adjuster says when the airbags are blown. IMHO if there is no heavy front suspension damage this would be a great track car.

That depends on state laws, not federal ones. Think about it - if there's some sort of reasonably insane maximum I could total a car every day and twice on Sunday and as long as I kept my license they'd have to insure me buying me 8 new $35,000 cars a week.

When I was young and stupid I lived in Illinois where they have three types of insurance policies: low risk, high risk, and assigned risk. Low and high are where 99% of the people fall - assigned risk is for the 1% of the idiots who cause a disproportionate amount of the accidents. I was really close to being labeled such an idiot so I decided it was time to grow up (a bit).

An insurance company can always drop you following the conclusion of their contract. The assigned risks in Illinois were put into a pool and each company doing insurance business there had to take a matching percentage - and charged them out the ying/yang for it.
