Default Question about the extended warranty

So i bought the extended warranty extra when i got the car about a year ago and quite simpily i dont want it anymore. Really considering supercharging and the warranty would be voided anyway so...

Im pretty sure you can sell the warranty back to the company but how much do you get back and what steps would i take?

Thanks

You can get a refund by contacting the address on the warranty. The current value is prorated.

If your extended warranty and financing was thru Nissan you will get some $$ back. I financed my 05 Altima thru Nissan and the Z with a local bank on the same day, then paid off both cars 2 yrs later and the local bank refused to refund the $ for extended warranty. On the other side I had a check in the mail from Nissan within 2 weeks.

If you really want the correct answer, call the warranty provider.

Why get rid of it, I have the 100K mile warranty on my Z and have voided my warranty on the motor a long time ago but have had my car in the shop quite a few times since then to get warranty work done.

I had a Honda Accord that I only owned for a couple of years before trading it for an 05 Nissan Maxima. I bought the extended warranty for the Honda through the dealer and it was like $1200.00. When I cancelled it I only got like $600.00 back from Honda even though the car had not entered the extended warranty period. I bought the Nissan extended warranty plan for the Maxima and when I cancelled it after buying the Z I got the full purchase price refunded. I doubt I will ever buy another Honda.

Modifying does not "void" a warranty. They just don't have to cover a repair on the miodified piece.

But if you turbo your engine, the warranty will still cover if your stereo craps out.

+1. I have 20" rims and drilled rotors and to my surprise my extended warranty covered for the ABS sensors when they went bad.

It will be prorated.

I purchased the extended warranty on my SRT-4 and when I traded it in, Nissan told me to go to my local dodge dealer (where I bought the car) and cancel it.

So a few weeks later I went to where I bought my SRT-4 with the Odometer reading statement (which nissan gave me for my trade) and Dodge took care of cancelling it. How much will I get back?? I am not sure, Hopefully most of it since it never took in effect...but he said it would be "pro rated".

Hopefully this helps.

I figure if you are going to mod anything stick with the standard warranty...everything major that could go wrong will still be coverd under the longest term of the warranty (power train etc).

i'm going to cancell mine so i called the nissan dealer and all i have to do is bring it in for odo reading and then the pro-rated amount will be applied to the principal on my loan.

figured id get a check but thats what i was going to do with it anyway is apply it to the principal
