With the ship docking and cars being unloaded I still don't know squat. No VIN, no delivery date, nothing!

Have contacted my dealer and so far no reply. To say i'm a bit frustrated would be an understatement!

Having to live through you folks for now...and it ain't easy!!

ZBarrister I feel your pain and frustration...I too have been highly irritated this week.........but today I received a blessed email I have a vin and a date. to say the least I am relieved, I have been Faxing and emailing the fleet sales manager at my dealership..he has been very kind and understanding. I know the dealers get their reports weekly..I didn't expect this news until tomarrow(friday) I email at night or fax in the evening and by 9-10 the next day I get a reply...EVERYTIME. Good luck, maybe they will know by tomarrow.

Wont matter much for a few days until they are primed and start heading for the haulers. At the moment they are not in good visible range from the fences and even if you get a glimpse of the 60-70 out there right now, it'd be with other cars and things blocking good views. Be patient...some pics will be coming of 10 times that amount after Friday night

Oh, and about the VIN inconsistencies at dealers (posted earlier), that boils mostly down to miscommunication (or lack thereof). The process is flawed and relies on humans to make calls, send faxes and such (well, not exactly, but you get the point). And to many people in the process, getting someone's VIN in a timely fashion is trivial and/or not a priority. Not the answer many want, but it's the truth in lots of (but not all) scenarios

If there are 2 assembly plants, then we should count on having our cars sooner, rather then later. 2 plants = twice the production time capability!

OK, you say the ship has arrived in LA, sounds great, but, does anyone have any pictures of the cars being off-loaded? These ships are massive and the ship yards are as big as some small cities, so I'm sure someone can get a few pictures of these cars, it would definately help make this thread believable! LA is packed with creative people, surely someone out there can pick up a camera and take a shot!
What a wonder the telephone is.
I received a call this AM that cars are at the port as of wednesday, 7 August, 2002. Many more to arrive possibly today.
A promise of a piece of video of the cars coming off of the ship hopefully sometime next week.
There are some still photos I am told but getting them seems problematic right now.
That's the best I can offer for now.
Time for a road trip?
Good fish and mexican food in the area!

Currently the Z's are being made at Oppama, but there may be two lines inside the plant.

I can guarantee you that the first run is already there. It's a smaller shipment (60-70 cars). If between rxo, me and a few others you can't believe it...well, I don't know what to tell you

Vins are received in our system a couple of days after the boat leaves the port in Japan...until then there is no vin information available for the dealer to forward to you. I have tried many times to explain this in fear that once some started receiving their vins others would think that vins are available for all pre-sell orders. Because our pre-sell Z's will still be being built in Oppama as late as September and we can't get vin info until it leaves the port to ship to U.S., it will be a while until all pre-sell customers can receive their vin. This is not a flaw in the system, it is how things work. I have seen many posts where customers have gone to the dealer and received information...maybe this is the best way for some to get a response. Maybe better than a phone call....But please understand, it is very possible that a vin has not been attached to your vehicle yet. We are continuing to try and urge our dealers to communicate any order info available to them....so far mixed results....but we will keep at it.

Default Hey Seedy

This is Pablo (Guy who sold you the license plate frame), do you know when the cars are going to be out in order to get a good view? If you have any info, please tell me, I would really like to see them and take some pics. Thanks.

Default 350z in Port of LA

If someone is willing to go to the Port of LA I can put them in touch with someone who can give them access to photograph the cars in Port. We have already missed the opportunity to video the cars comming off the ship, but there is still time to photograph the cars at the port.

Thanks for the clarification, ZISME. And it's good to see your presence here on the board!

This makes me especially happy since I've received a VIN and therefore can imagine my lovely blue Z on its way over here. This makes the estimated delivery date of Aug 31 believable!

ZISME, so if I alrady have my VIN number, does that mean I will be getting the car within 2 weeks? Thanks.

Now if someone could just explain how identical cars ordered two months apart get delivered in reverse order.... the April order in early September, the February order at the end of October.

Certain dealerships will have priority as will certain regions.
