Hey guys,

A friend of mine recently inherited a towing business, when his father passed away. He is looking to keep it running and maybe expand it to offer some more specialized services. He's investigating the idea of offering towing services that is catered to people with mid to heavily modified cars. Cars with very low ground clearance, and require a lot of care.

I am looking for people to share their experiences, especially folks with Zs that are pretty heavily modified. Please tell me about any good or nightmarish towing experiences you've encountered. And if you are by chance in the towing business, any advice on equipment or technique would be very helpful.

I had a fairly modified car (two cars ago), it was a Corrado and was very low. My only option was a flat bed and they still had to put a fair bit of lumber down to keep the body from scratching.

My pet peeves:

- I had to be there to be sure no damage occured
- The cost was substantially higher for the flat bed

 

There was an identical thread last week I believe, I would search for it.

 

Just like MAXPOWERS said flat bed and have 2 by 4's handy to use as ramps or have something cutom built for low clearance cars. I have had a number of modified cars lucky only had to have a tow twice both times I had to ask for a flat bed. One of those times the dumb AAA sent a tow truck for my EVO
