But no really... after you repair everything that needs it, most everything is "new".

It's a painful way to get a "new" car. I'm hoping the Nissan gods will cut me a little slack before demanding another $300+ sacrifice on the parts counter altar.

Let's just hope this window motor is the last prob for a few months.

As an FYI, if you need a code read, DO NOT go to the dealer and pay that retarded price for the code to be checked. You can buy your own reader for almost that same price. If you want to pay $0 when you have a code, go to AutoZone and have them scan it for you. They do it for free. I've done it multiple times with various cars, including the Z. I tripped a few CELs when installing my radio and needed to see what they were and clear them (I turned the ignition ON while the dash connections were disconnected). AutoZone even has a big sign on the front stating they do it for free. They will even let you rent it for free if you need it for a few days. Dealer code scanning is a robbery and I can't believe people still pay it.

Z isn't for everyone. Got it.

Set aside $ for repair when you buy a used car. Got it. Did it.

The purpose of the post was to find out if this kind of thing was common. To find out if there was a good answer for cheaper/easy window motor replacement. To find out if I should expect some additional similar common breakdown. -- The good news is that my350z.com members have answered all these questions.

Friday morning - passenger window stops working.

Tried the switch dozens of times over 2 days with no response. Ordered the refurb motor from Auto Zone, it'll be here Wed or Thurs.

Today (Sunday) the window just magically started working again.
I'm guessing I should just go ahead and replace it based on all the crap in this thread:

Damn dude, i went through the SAME EXACT issues very recently, had to get my TB replaced because some sensor was faulty, but I had a buddy of mine replace it at his shop, saved a bunch of money. Also my windows haven't been working properly for so long i think need to get the motors or something replaced on them too. It was just weird to read about someone haveing the exact same issues i have/had lol.

You gotta check out the window motor thread I linked ^^above. It's 15 pages and loaded with great info. Like that Auto Zone has the best motors. They're rebuilt and $185 ($40 refunded when you bring back your old, dead motor), and they're lifetime warranty (unlike Nissan's) and the thread is complete with install pics.

BTW - Since you're having these exact problems, what else is wrong with your Z so I know what to expect next?

At least you're not heavily modded...that's when the $$$ starts racking up when repairs are needed.
+1 on the dealerships charging too much. Try to research before taking your car in to the dealership...make it your last resort. Good luck with everything.

The window motor replacement is pretty easy. I had one on my passenger side go out under warranty and it was replaced. Then (about 15 days out of warranty-still under 36Kmiles) I had the replacement motor go out. So, after calling Nissan they replace that one for me. Now, the great thing is that my driver's side window motor is going out intermitently. So, I'm just going to buy a new motor and replace this one again.

Always search here first. I picked up a replacement throttle body for $140 at the dealer but prices varied. An Infiniti dealer quoted me $289! Install was so easy even I could do it!
