I hit a wild hog here in Tampa about a year ago and it did 9000 dollars worth of damage to my Z and it looks very similar to your damage. They fixed it and I wasn't at fault since it was "an act of nature".

Man that is rough. People are saying hit the deer, but I'm sure under those circumstances your first reaction is to simply avoid the wreck which in turn lead to a tree instead. Best of luck getting it fixed.

Deer= comp claim, wont get charged
Tree= collision claim, will get charged
Deer is the better option

Nice. Crashing on black ice can be considered "an act of God". Gotta love those little clauses.

So does that mean you're not going to be penalized? Comprehensive rather than a collision?

My first thought was, shoulda hit the deer, just as a general rule. I think in this case, the damage would have been MUCH worse if you did, so you made the right choice, with a little luck involved, n some decent driving. If it were my car, I would want the damage you have vs. the damage of hitting a deer head on, since you will be left with the car in the end. Everything is at least fixable without the car "never being the same" as we hear so much. Glad your insurance is going to cover it.

i think if you hit the dear., .,you would of ended up getting more damage then you actually did. .but im guessing you were lucky enough to not seriously damage the car and yourself. .usually they say hit the animal cause if you veer off the road you might hit something worse... . .so best outcome for all of this is that your OK!!

Doubt it. You hit a deer its going to take all that force and exert back some on the car. Yes the car will be damaged. Hitting a tree..well, you might as well run into a freaking wall. it will more damage because all that force is gonna be pushed back to the car. The tree is not going to fall down or move unlike the deer upon impact.

Now if you hit the deer and then spin out of control and ...well...hit a tree or fall into a ditch..or roll over...well then I can't argue with you there. total loss would be expected.

I had an apointment to have my new ones put on today (new ones sitting right nxt to my car in the garage right now), but I guess I will be missing that appointment. It would have helped if I had them on last night.

Yep.... Im have been soooo lucky these past few hours, everything seems to be working out fine.

Now just if everything goes alright at the body shop in the next few hours, I am waiting for a call for an appointment that the insurance lady set up for me. I am getting an estimate, I will post the numbers later.
