First off I want to thank God I am alive right now. It happened on a 55mph two lane highway. It could have been a lot worse though, a deer jumped out in front of me, close to the shoulder, on a tight blind turn, long skidding story short I ended up straight into a turn sign and into a tree. My baby is all messed up and now I have to wait til tommorow to call the insurance guy .









I made a rough list of parts needed to be replaced:
-Front bumper
-Plastic Under Oilpan
-Plastic Driver's Side Fender Lining
-Drivers Side Fender
-Driver's Door Skin
-Driver's Mirror
-Mirror Post
-Driver's Sideskirt
-Driver's Rear Quarter Panel
-Front wheel

Sucks, but i would have hit the deer to make sure its a No Fault accident.

It was one of those quickly thought decisions, where you think it would be better at the time, but look back and wonder.... would a 12 point buck to the windshield at about 50mph really be that healthy?

I actually had a deer hit me driving home from the airport. Cop told me it is better to hit the deer from an insurance standpoint.

 

I have always been advised to hit the deer. A truck driver last week drove into a house avoiding a deer. With our cars I would expect the animal would go up and over pretty easily.

Somewhat funny yet sad story. .i just don't know how to take it. .but when i was 17 or so about 11 years ago we had tis customer who had a little miata convertible. .he had been on 287 in NJ and hit a deer. .a BUCK. .that flew over and smashed into his car getting tangled in the Soft top. .well the guy was fine from what we've heard in the beginning but met his demise when the deer came to and started to KICK the hell out of him trying to get out of the tangled soft top. . .poor guy died a tragic death due to a beating from a deer. . eye witnesses told the parametics and in turn we were told the story from the guys wife. .who also showed us pictures of wha the car looked like afterwards. . .RIP.. .

honestly I think if you hit the deer at 50mph+ your car = total loss.
