What is the VDC good for? I'm split between the enthuthest and touring convertible. To me, the big difference between the two seem to be the 17 vs 18 wheels and VDC.
So is the VDC worth it? Is it irreplaceable even with good driving skills? Has the VDC help you in avoiding an accident? Is the VDC on the 350Z really that sophisticated?Does it get into the way?
Thanks a million!

If you're on dry roads and the car is under control, and you're a good driver (I mean with race school experience), then I think VDC is a waste.
But in the rain or a sudden change of circumstances where the car threatens to go out of control, in an emergency, the VDC can react several hundred thousands faster than you could ever do it, you or anyone alive.
It's there for emergencies. I would never own a car without it, or without seat belts and bags, or without HIDs. And I wouldn't want a car where it can't be turned off, either!
Good luck with your decision. J

youll never use it till you need it. kind of like airbags, but a bit less, cause it will step in during situations that might not be as dire as airbags would require. but I bet 98% of cars never set off there airbags, just as 98% of cars will never enter a situation where VDC will be the difference. its the 2%.

- If I have my VDC "on", it comes on all the time. It started drivng me crazy since it seems to come on whenever I try to power out of corners. But It was really helpful in learning the initial limits of the car and testing the limits after any suspension mods.
There is a huge difference between your VDC coming on and your VDC being needed.
My VDC comes on all the time. Other than the few times I have been deliberately engaging it with excessively rough maneovers merely to check the limits of the technology though I have never "needed" it per say. If it was not there, I would have had to work a little harder to regain control basically.
If your VDC makes the difference between not getting into an accident then you needed it. If your VDC comes on due to a tight corner then most likely you could have controlled the situation without it but it was there backing you up.
VDC is a heck of alot of fun to play with in light rain though ... sliding down the freeway sideways counting the seconds until your VDC kicks in and rights you is fun.

Kevin
