LOL yeah that a pretty common mod around here. Saves a lot of weight but the whole foot out the car kicking this isnt my cup of tea.

Do you know how little weight that CF stuff actually cuts off of a Z? The hood is already aluminum and unless you replace the rear hatch with a CF one with lexan and no wiper, you aren't saving a bunch of weight there either. Plus, the cost of CF is prohibitive versus removing current things on the car that aren't necessary on a daily basis. And, as mentioned before, a passenger seat is more useful than a spare... Good solid argument though, keep those gems of wisdom coming. Oh, and please learn to spell and type.

Dutchboy pwned that one lol.

APS tests drop about 40 pounds overall. planning on AAM Y-pipe and 3 inch single which will drop another 38 or so. spare and tools is 45. ACT clutch & prolite is about 20-ish pounds...batteries can drop 20-25 pounds, light weight pullies is 7 pounds....it can come off all over the place. and whoever the Aussie with Tomei headers is....well..I hate you. wish we got Tomei headers here..

I just weighed my car last night at a CAT truck scale that is gaurunteed to be correct and I weighed in at 3020 with out me in the car. Weight reductions is:
No front bumper support
No windshield wiper fluid
Engine Bay plastics removed
Braille 6.3lb carbon fibre lightweight battery
Underdrive pulleys
Nismo Headers
Resonated Test Pipes
Nismo Y-Pipe
3' Single exhaust
No floor matts or trunk matt
No spare or tools
rear hatch weight delete
Rear wiper delete
Front strut bar off (temporary)
1/4 tank of gas

My car is an 03 track edition, my goal is low 2900's after I get new tires, RSR Ti2000 springs and do a few other small weight reduction items like remove the sub plate and rear tow hook.

You should throw a CF hatch on there, with a lexan window. I was amazed at how heavy the stock hatch was w/glass compared to my cf hatch w/lexan. That alone will take you to the low/mid 2900's.

Nice job shaving the pounds, BTW!

Is there truth to these numbers...?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nissan_350Z

2003-2005

Coupe:
3,188 lb (1,446 kg) (Base)
3,197 lb (1,450 kg) (Enth)
3,217 lb (1,459 kg) (Perf)
3,247 lb (1,473 kg) (Tour)
3,225 lb (1,463 kg) (Track)
Roadster:
3,428 lb (1,555 kg) (Enth)
3,462 lb (1,570 kg) (Tour)

2006-2008

Coupe:
3,339 lb (1,515 kg) (Base)
3,346 lb (1,518 kg) (Enth)
3,400 lb (1,542 kg) (Tour)
3,404 lb (1,544 kg) (Grand)
3,353 lb (1,521 kg) (NISMO)
Roadster:
3,580 lb (1,624 kg) (Enth)
3,600 lb (1,633 kg) (Tour)
3,602 lb (1,634 kg) (Grand)

If so, I've only added to my DD 2004 base (3188 lb) model
-stereo/sound proofing, etc....
-BBK
-LSD
-larger spare for BBK

I've been curious for a while, next road trip I'm putting her on a CAT scale.

Thanks, thats definately the next step, although I am having a hard time finding solid numbers on stock hatch w/glass vs. mastergrade CF hatch w/ lexan. I guess theres really only one way to find out.

I have no idea what the stock hatch weighs, but I would estimate it in the neighborhood of 100lbs with the glass.

My cf hatch w/ lexan window cant weigh more then 20. Those are both estimations, based on uninstalling and carrying the stock one, and assembling and carrying the cf one, but I'm telling you, the difference is extreme.

Yes and no. Weights for the 06 and 07 Zs did not change. My 06 touring weighs 3247, as does Gooey's 07 touring. Both of us had our cars weighed with a tank full of gas. Nobody really knows why Nissan is BSing the weight - but my theory is so that they can introduce the 2009 Z, have it weigh 3200lbs, and say they reduced weight over the Z33.
