Default Importing to Europe

Hello,

I am thinking of importing a 350Z to Europe.
1) Washers for xenon lights (or replace them with non-xenon ones)
Is the wiring for non-xenon lights the same with the xenon ones?
How easy is it to find non-xenon lights?
How much would cost to install the washers?

2) Certificate of conformity CE
Would a dealer give me that?

3) Anyone knows of shipping costs?

TIA for any info

Why not just get a UK one? I know you may be driving a RHD but at least you wont have to make any changes... And you wont have to go through the import and shipping issues.... Some imports are on the market for about 15k Euro at the moment...

Well, for me RHD is more important than xenon lights.

I didn't understand that. Did you mean used ones?

I am just considering the possibility. Wanted to get some technical feedback if it would be possible.

Yeh 15k Euro would be for a used 03 and going up to about 35k Euro for an 07/08 and all we get here are RHD's.

What Technical info you after? And what country you in?

Ok, ok, I meant LHD is a must have for me.

I just want to see how difficult is to put non-xenon lights or to install the washers

the wiring is different between the halogen and xenon lights but its pretty simple to rewire it. You can find halogen lights very easily if you are buying an 03-05 as most people swap them for xenons.

The washers i am not sure of but it cant be that hard. You would just need to buy the parts from a euro or canadian 350z. Dealer should have them

No US dealer will be able to give you a certificate of conformity, that is something you would have to get from your home country after the car passes customs and gets inspected.

Depends which port in europe the car will be shipped to and it also depends on what port its leaving from but generally the shipping from US to europe will run you $1500-2500 US dollars.

How much are you looking to spend and what kind of Z do you want? I'm looking to sell my 04 touring if you're interested (hint, hint)

BTW, have you factored in the cost of customs fees and taxes in your country? You will have to pay them before customs even releases the car to you. Maybe its cheaper to just buy one there?

Thanks newspeed. That was the first helpful reply I got.

Do the halogen lights of 03-05 fit the 2007-08 version?

Yes, I am looking also at the taxes, costs here. Would a US dealer sell the car without taxes if the car is to be exported?

As for your car, as soon as I figure out all the other issues, I'll get back to you . Considering new also...

If you are exporting the car then you do NOT have to pay taxes to the US dealer. The only time the dealer is allowed to collect sales tax is when the car is going to be registered and titled within the state.

I know the 06-08 lights are a plug and play affair with the 03-05 HID xenon lights so i would imagine you could swap the older halogen lights into the 06-08 with a little re-wiring.

oh, and BTW those estimated shipping costs i posted earlier are for transport by cargo ship which usually takes 1-2 months. If you want the car faster you would have to ship by air cargo and its a LOT more expensive.

Sorry Monty but why dont you want the latest Xenons and go back to the HID units? Am more than happy to swap my UK HID's for a set of 06+ Xenons! Am only asking as I dont know a Euro country that you cant use Xenons...?

i think he was asking about swapping to halogen in case he was not able to add headlight washer. Most countries in Europe require them but we don't get them in US cars.

Hey my Z just arrived to Italy port from NY.
I will pick it up next week since I am on holiday.
I will let you know how it goes with customs and will probably have to change my headlights.
