Default Production numbers and VIN decoding?

Hey all... anyone have any clue what the production numbers will be for the Z?

How many brickyards did they actually make?

How many were track models?

Anyone have any solid info on decoding the VINs properly?

Thanks all.

You can go here and punch in yours and it'll give you VIN details

VIN View

You can also go here to see what each digit means:

Decode your VIN

If you do a search for a poster named "Brackethead" he did a 350Z survey that has all of the info (colors, models etc.) you wanted.

Here it is, I found it for you:

Brackethead's 350Z survey

This was just for preorders however.

Speaking of Brackethead, what ever happened to him?

Thanks Bonz

That was my roommate asking the question. We're flying to Boston wednesday to pick up his brickyard track and drive it home to texas. He just had some questions about his VIN since it seems kinda low for so late in the year. Thanks for the links though.

You've also inspired him to invest in some zaino as soon as we get back. Your car is one of the best looking on this site by far.

Thanks!

Boston to TX. That's one hell of a break in ride! Have a great time!

Anyone know what happened to Brackethead?

Hey D'Funk. I just graduated from Texas A&M last December Whoop!

Congrats to your roomate on the brickyard...good choice!

I am bumping this because I will be buying very soon, but slightly used probably. How can I figure out the production date?? The serial part of the VIN# (last 6 digits) typically show production order...but I am having a difficult time finding any correlation with the Z34 serial number to mileage/production date. Anyone know how to decode the serial number?!?! Also, the first digit seems to be indicative of something OTHER than production order??

Help!

The first digit indicates side air-bags. 0 = no, 1=yes. The last 5 digits are the prod. # of your car. I own car #12780

Congrats to your buddy on his new car and choice of colors!

However, I must point out ... Brickyard <> Texas A&M Maroon (or whatever you choose to call the school's color)

Cool...thanks!

Bah...the brickyard is very close to Aggie Maroon. I have to admit I like the Sunset Orange. If I get one, I have thought of an Aggie personalized plate that would be cool...but I cant give it away

Isn't it against the law for an Aggie to have anything that's even close to the orange color of THE University??? Hook 'em Horns!

You sure about that airbag indicator? Mine starts with a 1 and it doesn't have side air bags.

Starts with 1 = no side airbags (D in VIN)

Starts with 0 = side airbags (E in VIN)
