Picture of underside
I had posted this picture on a thread called South FL be on the lookout https://my350z.com/forum/showthread....&threadid=3383 because there is a redline Z making the rounds down here but I figured only South Florida people would look so I am putting it here also, it looks like it is for training purposes as they did an oil change on it. I was too late but my son took a couple of pictures. Here is the underside and there are a couple of others on the other thread.

I will, it looks like it will a little tight to do anything to change exhaust to true dual!!

Where there's a will there's a way!! Thanks for the pic. I've been waiting for this one. What is the diameter of that pipe? It looks like maybe 3" - 3 1/2" maybe.
I'd say that the piping looks like 3" at most...probably a little smaller (2.75?) I agree...that is one convoluted mess of pipes. 3, 2, 1, 2...hut! hut!
I think the best performance gains (barring a true dual) could be a single on the left. Some of the S2000 guys are doing this now...could save quite a bit of weight...particularly a titanium single. It does look a little weird though with a big hole on the bottom right of the bumper...
Also, looks like all sort of kitty cats on there...I think some nice headers with a test pipe, or even a single high flow cat, will be reaping some good HP on this car.

What an exhaust maze! Looking forward to seeing what after market CAT backs are released. It's going to be a challenge considering the space limitations.

Yes, those tamiya guys have great connections. I bought their book on the Lotus 107 F1, and their ability to photograph up close and personnel early is amaZing!
Of their 1/24th kit of the Z, only the change to a wimpy rear wiper, and they were spot on.
I won't mention the 315/30 tires..........

This would lend some credence to the story that they had the car almost done with a single rear exhaust, and then Carlos Ghosn himself saw it and said that a real sports car has dual exhaust, so they had to make last-minute changes to make it so. It really does look like a last-minute dual exhaust conversion, with the pip snaking around at the rear like that.

A_p...sorry it was tongue in cheek...guess it didn't read that way. Thanks for explaining though for those who may not know. I did mean though that what does this mean for the world of tuning and aftermarket parts.
I think it also means that we can see a definite restriction on a little more power to be had...anyone agree? In turn...if we can free up some of that piping and efficiency somehow we should make a decent amount of gain from a well developed exhaust system. Dual or single...

I agree, we might have our 300 HP right here with just a new catback system!!! I am ready to buy one as soon as it comes out. It might help that quiet exhaust everyone has been complaining about.
for sure..that's one funky mess of pipe...I was looking at it and wondering HOW someone is gonna develop much for it...wider pipes maybe not...but straight pipes...
and what about like mentioned above...a single out...with lightweight muffler. anyone pay any attention to how that Nissan JGTC car had it set up...that would more than likely be the start or end of what is possible.
And it looks like that suspension piece wrapes around the exhaust...so no way to go under it?

That pipe coming from the cat back to the exhaust is a big *** pipe. I think my exact words when crawling around on the ground looking at it were "Holy ****! That's a big *** pipe!" I don't recall if ZGirl checked it out, but her friend Jess did and remarked similarly.

Tim-
When Jessica saw that you posted this picture, she was cracking up. She didn't even know that you took it! We should put this one under "member photos"...
By the way, if anyone is interested in her...lol...her name on the board is SLKgirl. She's 21 from NJ and we'll be in Fla this week...
well crap...a show car? WEll I am willing to bet a real JGTC car will pop up sooner or let...adn IF it does we should take a hard look at that. What about the Nismo parts? I haven't really looked but does NISMO offer any better solution so far?
I am not a patient person...I want to know it all now!
