Default 2006 GT or 2007 Enthusiast

How much difference is there really between the RevUp motor and the HR? I drove an 04 a long time ago and I wasn't impressed at all with the power. I recently drove an 07 base model and it was respectable. I would call no stock Z a fast car but that's not what I am looking for at this point anyhow. There is an 06 GT for sale in Daytona Blue which is also my favorite color for what looks to be a very reasonable price. I am really thinking hard about pulling the trigger, especially since an 07 Enthusiast is so hard to find it seems for me. I found one silver one but I really dislike silver. What are your thoughts?

Get an 07. Better engine, and enthusiast is all you need.

DB with the Rays wheels would look awesome. It all comes down to if you like all of the additional stuff that comes with the GT (Brembos, Rays, Bose, leather, etc).

If they were both the same price/mileage, I'd go with the 06 GT.

That says to me you're not staying N/A and you'll prob go FI down the track. Go the 06.... Aftermarket TT kits are easily available for the DE (amongst other mods) compared to the HR engine. A few people have said the HR will be harder to boost than the DE.

If you're not happy with the power, maybe the Evo/Sti is more your cup of tea?

The '07 will be the unanimous choice, but the '06 has everything you need. The '07 is much faster IMO, but the '06 isn't exactly slow. If you don't mod, I'd sway towards the '06 GT, but then again, there's nothing like a new car. BTW, I'd hold off for the color you prefer.

Lots of people have been underwhelmed by the 350Zs power during test drives, myself included. The Z isn't slow, so some try to explain this with a flat torque curve, high expectations and a few other things.

It looks like the decision you make, is based on what you are going to do to this car. If you know enough about each model.

You will be disappointed with either. Better stick with the Eclipse.

After driving my current car for so many years nothing is really all that exciting anymore. I've done the whole engine modding game and I don't want to get into that with a new car. Maybe an exhaust for some bark but just something that looks nice with a killer set of wheels on it. I'll go look at the 06 and see what I think. It's very close in price to the 07 base models I've seen in my area with under 20k on it.

I'm with you on that one. DB was really my true love on this car and it seems it isn't offered on the 08s. That rules out a new car. With the TSB for the oil consumption now I'm really not seeing a reason not to get the 06. It's much more car for the money and if the power really bothers me that much I'll throw a Vortech on it. That will probably be the first of many more mods which will I regret at a later date.

Get the '06 GT. Car's perfect already, but if you want some more kick and sound, get a nismo exhaust/intake, mrev2 plenum/spacer, and a utec w/ 100 shot nitrous system.

I will go with the '07. Even know the GT is the rare breed of the Z i wouldn't pass up on the new engine and new car feel. The '07 is already a year in on the Research and Development department, so mods won't be too far behind. When the '03 came out, mods weren't available right away either. Get the new engine and keep up with the flow of things. When mods start rolling for the '07 it is going to really show it's true colors vs our DE engines. Newer is better in this case i believe. Good luck with your decision.
