Talking Driving A Lowered Car 101

Just thought that this might be a good thread to have...

A good place for people to share their views on how lowered cars should be driven - from driveways, speed bumps, to potholes and such.

Please state how low your car is dropped, if possible, to give a better idea of the driving experience.

nismo v2 kit

how to be driven:

driveways - sideways and slowly
speed bumps -sideways and slowly
potholes -avoided

best bet is to take it 1 wheel at a time in the front

I just put on my seibon cw lip yesterday...and ive already scraped once. I dont think i'll ever lower my Z. I daily drive my Z so going any lower is impractical.

Im trying to get used to angling into dips, going really slow, and ignoring all the angry motorists behind me.

that's actually one thing I am paranoid about...
an idiot driving behind who might rear-end me.

mine is dropped two inches. Its no fun getting stuck on a driveway entrance...

Yeah... this will be my first dropped car.
I am going with the Tein Type Flex coilovers with EDFC.
So would it make a difference versus a car that just have the springs replaced?

Put on your signal way ahead of time, then take your time turning onto the driveway.

Since this will be your first lowered vehicle don't sweat so much if your scratch and stuff. As a beginner, it will happen and it is the way of learning.

Will you be attending any track events? If not, just go with springs and if you want to spend a little more get shocks to go with them.

The Z is higher than my previous car which was just slammed on its nuts so I don't have any problems with the Z.... like others have said stay on the side as much as you can with driveways and speedbumps and look as far foreward as you can when driving

..... I remember in my old car on the highway- there being a rock on the road and I only saw it at the last minute, even when i did i still thought it was too small but no.... BAM and busted fuel tank...

i lowered mine with springs and got tokico dspec shocks which saved me some money rather than getting coilovers

I was talking to my friend (girl) about lowering my car and all she said to me was "why? we're not in high school anymore." haha a Z does look extra sexy with a slight drop but I don't know if it's worth the hassle and pain in the stomach I will get everytime i scrape it a little.

I'm lowered on Eibach Sportline springs which is a 1.25 inch drop back and front (i think ) I also have a carbon fiber Veilside lip which I sometimes scrape pulling out of steep driveways (pulling in isn't too bad, you just have to angle it right). Weird thing is if I pull out of a steep driveway, I can sometimes avoid scraping my lip, but usually always scrape my exhaust (STOCK EXHAUST!!!), does anyone know why that is? If i scrape my stock exhaust, I don't even want to know what I'll do to an aftermarket one I really want the Greddy Evo2 but I'm afraid it'll get shot to hell

I'm on Eibach Prokits and the other thing to mention is being quick in sizing up a situation. If entering a parking lot and suddenly find it has HUGE speed bumps, check your mirrors and engage reverse to back out. Or pull in and look for a way to circle and pull out. Be ready for some scrapes on the chassis, y-pipe, front lip, etc. at times.

This thread goes along with my sig haha!

Hug the side of the driveway and angle as much as possible, slow one wheel at a time. Same for speed bumps. Pot holes eek! Lots of them here and they have more wrecked my suspension than anything.

Scraped my old exhaust on a speed bump going like 2 mph at the dealership at an angle =(. The shop I've been going to has a huge valley of collected water where the driveway and road meet.. I have gone over the grass a few times haha.

I have eibach pro kit and a v1 lip on my car which doesnt give me much headache going up or down my driveway. Just have to be careful driving on Jersey streets and highways

My Z is actually lower than my previously lowered STi lol so the first time i scraped on a speed bumb that i didn't in my dropped car i was quite suprised, but now i've gotten the hang of it
