Gas Prices - Consider Selling Z?

Fail
Fail
I also turned the thermostat down as I heard colder food lasts longer.
Saving a few $ at this point really wouldn't make me feel as good about myself as driving my Z.
I considered competitor cars like the RSX type-s (please don't beat a dead horse), Mazdaspeed3, etc, but for an extra 3-4mpg these cars would deliver its not worth the downgrade.
I'm a 22yo single guy, with a decent job and only $4000 left to pay on this car. Gas prices suck, but then again so did the last girl i went out with who saw my car.
long live my Z

I would like to know how a person can get 25+mpg driving a Z in the city. Slow like a turtle/granny?

I fill up twice a week costing me roughly 50-55 dollars. Go figure i'm in stop and go traffic in the middle of LA. I considered trading in for a prius earlier this week but at this point in time i've decided to still keep it.

.)there was a thread debating this topic but it was concluded that you save gas by leaving it in gear while coasting down hills or coming up to redlights. The reasoning was that when you are in neutral, the engine still sprays a bit of fuel to keep the motor idling. But if you are in gear coming to a stop or coasting down a hill in gear, because of inertia, the engine keeps turning over without the injectors having to spray fuel. So basically supposedly the injectors completely shut off.

Trading in the Z for a slower, less sexy car just to save money on gas is a very bad decision. If you need money, don't buy a moderately expensive car to drive/maintain like the Z. If you need an expensive car, don't drive it too much. Make yourself a 1-trip-per-day limit. One trip to work and back Mon ~ Fri with planned stops keeps me away from the pump for almost TWO weeks!!!

I drive Houston traffic daily (at least an hour and thirty minutes each weekday) and I only fill up once a week. Even when I fill, it's like 3/4 a tank unless I really drive hard.
*edit* I have thought about just buying a 4 cyl. beater for my DD (or at least for Tues-Thurs when traffic is the worst). I love driving my Z as my DD... but I'm just waiting for the day someone slams into me because they're shaving, eating breakfast, talking on their cellphone all while changing lanes w/o signaling (or just failing to stop and slamming into me). You know, stupid s*** like that makes me worry for my baby.

The thought has crossed my mind because I only average about 19 MPG and I'm buying about a full tank ~$55 per week. The way I justify it is that when I recently bought my house I worked out a monthly expense budget to make sure I could afford everything and I included $250 per month for gasoline. So until it costs me $62.50 per week I'll keep enjoying my Z!
And when it surpasses $62.50 per week I'll cut back on beer.
And when it gets to $85 per week I'll sell the house : )

do what i am gonna do.. buy a motorcycle. trust me when you get the bike you will never complain about gas again. i had one before i got my Z but sold it because of issues w.fam and girlfriends and me having the bike. so i got the Z.. i love the Z more than the bike. but the bike wass still a great experience.. so now with gas going up i think ima spend a couple thousand and buy a decent bike and i will be set. about 10-15 dollars fills the bike up and it lasts me normally about a month...
and on top of that insurance for a used bike is about 200 dollars a year.

the more gas you save the less fun you have
hmm $110 a barrel....i guess i have to look forward to filling up 4.xx a gallon soon
