Sell my Z and buy Lotus Elise?
If I was using my Z for the track. Elise all the way. However, for street use I like the Z better. I know I'd like it if I owned one cause I'd get used to it's fugly looks. Kinda like .... no parent has an ugly kid. But, for me I'd rather get a used Ferrari 348-355 F1. Hoping that's my next move. But, then I'd sell my Firebird and keep the Z I think. Z is a great everyday car for me. If I'm hauling on the weekend my beater truck takes care of everything else.

a month for a used Lotus with no warranty or just keep the Z and make it better?
how about taking that saved $700 and buying lessons on decision making skills

Well I love the Elise. But DAMN 700 bucks a month car payment? that's rediculous to say the least. I've never paid that much for a car payment, and don't think I could justify it....but I am a cheap ***.
Lotus=Low Hype, All performance.

whew, for that cost for a garage queen, I'd say no. I'm even quicker to say no becuase my friends neighbor just died when he crashed his in mt lookout on that nice day a couple weeks ago.
A friend of mine at work as one, the blueish grey color. The car ride is hard as hell and its uncomfortable the inside is hella small...thats just my opinion. I would stick with the Z any day of the week.
Lotus Elise is an engineering master piece it's high perfromance Toyota 4 cylinder engine and Lotus performance makes it a great Track Car. Its destine to improve your track time.
If you like the car's styling it is an excellent one purpose vehicle imo. As a daily driver it will be a lot rarer then the Z-car and its very exotic looking.
It's a street legal Tracker Racer.
The lows of Lotus Elise is that it has less interior space then the Z, there is a certain way you have to get in or sit in the car, it has even less storage area the the Z, stripped interior compared to the Z.
In last year article that tested the 10 Best Sports Cars the Lotus finished in 4th place behind the 3rd 911 turbo, 2nd Boxster and 1st Vette. Most the drivers seemed to liked the Porsches but the numbers selected the Vette.
The Honda S2000 was right behind it just ahead of the Viper, Z4, Z and SL 380 one of the Mercedes v6s which won best ride. So it can play with the big boys.
Enjoy the choice you make. The Lotus is a totally different experience, after your test drive it tell us what you think!

$700/month on a garage queen... Stupid move in my mind.
Elise = 190hp NA, Exige S = 240hp Supercharged.
Both use Toyota 2zz-GE engines (From the 2000-2005 Celica GTS)
The ride is extremely uncomfortable, especially if you live in an area with not-so-smooth roads.
I like the looks of them and everything, but trading your DD for a $700/month garage queen is just stupid.

^I drive mine almost every day. So it can be a DD to some, as long as your commute isn't too long. As for the ride, it can be jarring, but not any worse than many of the Zs on here riding on track oriented coilovers.
Brrcats, I saw that report on the news about the wreck/death in the Lotus, sorry to hear about. The Z is not my DD, it is my current garage queen. To the people that have the Elise, how hard was it to get insured? I have heard horror stories.
