function over fashion... nice wheels become a liability at some point. curb rash your oem wheels = cry. curb rash a brand new volk = depression.

Honestly, get the car and drive it for a few months before you do anything to it. Get the feeling of stock to truly appreciate the mods you do to it. And also you will be used to the car aswell making you well aware of your distances around the car.

After that, get a exhaust and then rims.

Keep it stock for a little while. It will make you love your car even more when you do mod it, and it will give you time to do research, planning, etc. before an expensive buy, which is always good.

I don't think either is worth it.
Get some coilovers first.

+1000000

I think one should always begin with suspension first. I regret not building my suspension first when I started modding..but that should be remedied soon hehe

It seems like you don't have a set goal for what you want to get out from the 350Z. Get the wheels and coilovers first IF you can afford them. And like others said, get the Z first! You might find one w/ minor mods on it already if you plan to get a used one.

I'd rather have an expensive exhaust system than a cheap set of wheels...

i'm not saying anything otherwise. i'm not saying buy cheap wheels. good wheels can get pricey but you can get a nismo exhaust new and installed for about $1k. i wouldn't call nismo a "cheap" exhaust system. at the same time, a really high end exhaust system can be a few grand, the same as some really decent wheels [new set of volks, for example, can run anywhere from 2k-4k]

Exhaust first, you can enjoy the sound and power. Not like you can watch your wheels when your driving.

Exhausts... Put a true dual exhaust on it first. I like the quote "function over fashion". You'll like the new sound and added power

My stock exhaust was a Y type exhaust and adding Borla true dual exhausted added around 15-20 hp... wonder how much hp new rims generate?
