Nissan sales for June 03
As usual, automakers reported their sales for the previous month at the beginning of each month.
Here are the stats for Nissan:

Yeah, I personally find it hard to define success. Perhaps if it's profitable or they just sell all the ones they can produce w/o having to put on major incentives.
If you didn't know GM sells a HUGE # of cars compared to Nissan. http://www.gm.com/company/investor_i...rod/index.htm. GM in the US for instance sold 21,378 POS Impalas and 7,613 POS Aleros last month.
Here are some other stats:
Toyota http://biz.yahoo.com/prnews/030701/latu073_1.html
Honda http://biz.yahoo.com/prnews/030701/latu079_1.html
BMW http://biz.yahoo.com/prnews/030701/nytu128_1.html
Audi http://biz.yahoo.com/prnews/030701/detu016_1.html
Over where I work you'd think that BMWs and Audis were real popular in the US (since they're popular where I work), when in fact they aren't popular at all in the US.

donno what their going for but CYTD is year to date. 19,503
thats the magic number. only 20,000 made, donno why theres the discrepancy. great that its so low. hell only 7000 more than the G35 coupe.
by the way, production isnt really all about sales, its produced however they want. meaning they must be intending to produce just as many coupes as Z, PLUS the sedans.

It appears that "CYTD" means Calendar Year To Date, as opposed to model year. Then the 19,000+ CYTD makes sense. It still looks like there will be 35,000+ sold in the first model year. Sounds like they're on target for what they were hoping to move.
Keep in mind that as a point of comparison, just last month Chevy sold 34,213 POS Cavaliers and Toyota sold 33,786 Camrys.
When I first started looking into these sales figures a year ago or so, it was real eye opening for me. I had no idea American car companies are still able to sell so many cars (there are tons of imports here in WA and lots in CA, esp. So Cal).

just look at the altima, last I heard, 200,000 were sold last year.
I know the F150 sells some INSANE amount, way higher than even that.
mustang gets 100,000 a year at this point I think, tho they used to sell far more, their numbers have dropped.
corvette makes about 30,000 a year.
I believe the S2000, is very limited around 8000 a year, but dont quote me on that.

Yup, you are right on the Altima. Nissan sold 201K of those in the US last year. http://www.nissannews.com/corporate/...13165838.shtml
Yup on the F series as a whole. They sold 73,898 last MONTH. http://biz.yahoo.com/prnews/030701/detu010_1.html

All depends really how you look at it.
Demand for the 2003 year actually produced an increase in the
MSRP number for 2004 - good
32k+ equates more z's on the road - good, bad??
I definitely like the fact MSRP has gone up... let's face it .... absolutely phenominal car......

Here is another interesting fact:
Who is the second most profitable car manufacturer following Porsche?
NISSAN
Amazing considering just few years ago they were at the edge of bankcruptcy. Way to go Nissan!
