Just wondering if anyone has similar experience to me. Had a stone hit the side of the car, must have been pretty big, first it hit the mirror joint and took a chunk out of that. Then as it was deflected it hit the door, not only putting a nice 10cm scratch on there, but also managed to dent the body panel !

Later I had someone key the passenger side door, just paint damage not bodywork. So I have the door repainted. Within a week I must have been hit by another stone on that side. Didn't even here it but now have a nice circular stone chip that has dented the door panel. Just seems to be a bit fragile on the doors, or is it just my bad luck?

 

the paint has been called fragile, but rocks bounce off, they dont slide along the side of the car and scratch it the whole way...

sounds like a little bit of fragile paint, and a whole lot of bad luck.

 

I guess just bad luck. I'll put a few thousand more km on her before having any touch up work done again. The insurers would fix it, but then raise my premiums next year by 50%, making it not worth the claim.

I get to drive it around Motegi race track in a few weeks time. Get to do 5 laps on the circuit with a pace car in front of me. Will have video footage of it if anyones interested.
