Default 08' 350Z First Drive

Finally drove a 2008 6MT Enthusiast yesterday cuz Im considering trading in my 2005 6MT Touring. I like it. Alot. I think the cloth seats are actually more comfortable than my leather. The exhaust note is a bit more throaty too, liked that. Headlamps looked real sharp as well. Interior was...oki. It's definitely no Audi A6 inside but its SLIGHTLY better than the previous 350Z's. Not a very important feature IMHO anyway, a Sports Car should be driver focused anyway. But the extra cup holder could be nice. Hehe. I forgot how bad stock sound systems are in this car. Ugh. But again not a big deal. And were off!!! Ahhh...that extra 900 on the tach is NICE!!!! Pulls smoothly and VERY linear with a LARGER powerband. Through 2nd, strong as hell, up to third...sweet, esing off high in 4th now. This cars ride is unquestionably more refined than 2005 Touring. The clutch is....SMOOTHE, like jam. Im not sure if I liked that or not actually. Maybee too soft. Shoulda saw me drive my 05 Touring home, it was like a leg lift!! LOL!! But the tranny? Butter baby. That was the MOST pronounced difference, again, IMHO, about the 08 and previous (3,4,5,6). No doubt the car has refined itself over the years and gotten better overall. Its a sweet machine. And its faster, no doubt there. However, it DIDNT feel MUCH faster. Down low that is. As a matter of fact, I think my Z pulls HARDER through 2nd gear. But, once you grab 3rd, because the HR engine breathes so much better you can really feel those 20 extra horses working. It would no doubt start pulling on my 05 once we hit 3rd gear. Torque is what gets your vehicle moving. And with the lighter weight and higher torque of the pre 07's it makes a difference. Not much but I could feel the launch difference through 2nd. However, up top, north of 2nd gear is where the HR SHINES. This mother just keeps pulling and pulling, and she's breathing so sweetly, right up until that beautiful bounce at 7500. I think it would EASILY pull on my Z from 55mph+? So my final opinion is the 07's+ are in fact a better faster car. Are they THAT much better than my 05 Touring to buy one KNOWING the 370 is coming in 15+ months? IMHO, no. If the 370 was never in the books or Nissans plans, then yes, I would trade in my Touring.

Get the 08. The 370s will have problems. First year models always do, and you can say that ya have the last of the 350 generation.

07+'s are definately much better. I know what you mean about the 2nd gear, it pulls the strongest there.
