Default Salesman Did This To Me Today.......

thought i would start a new thread on this, as i've never seen or heard of this happening before. perhaps one of you posters have?

went to Evansville (IN) today to the Don Patrick Nissan dealer, and was talking with one salesman about the 350Z. then another salesman starts talking to me - REAL LOUD - saying stuff like:

YOU BUYING THAT Z TODAY?
WE'LL BEAT ANY DEAL!
WHATEVER IT TAKES TO GET YOUR BUSINESS!

i said, "well, check out my SUV and let me know what you will give me for it when you locate a 350Z for me"

DONT WORRY ABOUT IT, NAME YOUR PRICE!
RIGHT NOW I'LL OFFER $1,000 LESS THAN YOUR BEST PRICE!

i said, "well, why would i take your $1,000 offer when the Indianapolis dealer has offered me $2,000 better than the best offer so far?"

THEN I'LL KNOCK $3,000 OFF!
NAME YOUR PRICE, WHATEVER IT TAKES TO GET YOUR BUSINESS!
WE'LL JUST TRADE STRAIGHT UP ON YOUR ESCAPE SUV!"

like i said, he was talking real loud, making all of these great claims about the greatest deal of all time. i didnt know whether to tell him to just shut up and lets talk some legitimate business, or to just tell him i'd let him know what it took to get me to buy this car from him. so i chose the latter.

thoughts posters?

Mike

I really wish buying a car was as easy as the cars.com commercial where you can bring in witch doctors, fight Glondoor in a ring of fire, or bring in brownies with laxative to get the best deal .

wow, so you just discovered that most salesmen people are idiots? I swear, they don't know **** about anything. I went to the nissan dealer last week only to see a salesman scratch his back with the brand new G37. I can't tell you how much I was ready to ***** slap him.

haha yeah bait and snag tactic. Just wanted to sit you down, then the real numbers would have come out and would have tried to lure you into the deal

Are you sure he wasn't just really excited to meet you? Maybe you're a really dynamic person that gets people excited.

OP, what you have described is basically the script of what happens everytime someone walks into a car dealership.
