Default I hate to ask this, but...

I'm going to anyway because I'm still unsure about which Z I've got... I've read the threads that are supposed to clear this up, and yet I'm still confused.

Base: no cruise control or radio buttons on steering wheel. MT only. 17" Wheels. No HID headlights (03-05). No autodimming rear-view mirror.

Enthusiast: TCS button on lower dash below steering wheel, cloth seats but no heater switches for seats. AT or MT. 17" wheels.

Performance: VDC button on lower dash, cloth seats but no heater switches or Brembo brakes. MT only. Available 03-05.

Touring: Leather seats. Heater buttons on center console. Heated seats and outside mirrors. Bose stereo system. VDC button on lower dash. AT or MT. 17" wheels on AT, 18" on MT.

Track: Brembo brakes and VDC button. Rear spoiler, underbody air diffusers. MT only. 18" Rays Forged Wheels. Available 03-06.

Grand Touring Leather seats. BOSE stereo. Brembos brakes. VDC button on lower dash.

My car doesn't really fit neatly into any of the above catergories, so I'm not sure what I've got here. I was told by the dealer it was the enthusiast, but he also said it was the 2nd best version of the car out of the 5 available types so I'm not sure what I've got.

I've got:

-2003 6 speed MT
-4 18" rims
-VDC button on lower left of steering wheel, but no TCS
-Leather seats, but they're not power anything... No heated seats.
-Rear spoiler
-Hid lights
-Autodimming rearview
-Cruise control on steering wheel (but no stereo controls)

It almost sounds like I"ve got the performance or track version, except I've got unheated leather seats, which doesn't really fit either catergory. I'm unsure what kind of brakes are on it and I'm not sure if I've got underbody air diffusers (nor do I know what they look like).

Sorry for this noobish question... Thanks for any helpful replies.

Are your brakes gold and say "Brembo" on them? If not, you have Performance w/ some aftermarket leather seats.

If brakes are gold and say "Brembo" on them, you have Track w/ some aftermarket leather seats.

I'm going to say that you have a performance but with leather seats put in after the fact.

Are all 2005 models considered the "35th Ann" models?

No. The Anniversary Edition was a special package which became the Grand Touring in 2006 (I think).

The AE models were 05 only, hence "35" year of the Z. Only sold around 270 Black AE models in USA.

I have a 2006 Grand Touring 6MT, which came with Rays forged 18" fronts and 19" rears...these rims were changed from the 03-05 models.

As far as I know, VDC (Vehicle Dynamics System) encompasses TCS(Traction Control System) and then adds stability control. So if you have VDC, you also have TCS.

I'll have to take some pictures... Because while I do have the VDC button, there's a blank right next to it where one would assume another button for TCS would be placed. This is wierd...

No brembo on brakes... They're the color of solder... Kind of silver. Normal stock brakes I'm guessing.

Dammit I wish I had some service records for this thing.

Thanks for the replies. Ok so it's probably the performance edition with after market leather seats... That's just wierd. I'll have to take some pictures because these seats look exactly like Nissan Z seats.

EDIT: Is there a way to determine what model I've got with the VIN?
EDITx2: Hate to be a pain in the *** (ok not really) but does anyone know where I can get an idea as to what the air diffusers look like?

I generally do not like “What model is this?” but this one is interesting. Agree with Brrcats.

TCS is subordinate to VDC. You will never see separate buttons.
