Default Redline light question?

This guy on automotiveforums.com said he has a 350Z. This is what he wrote:

I think you misunderstand me .. there is a feature in 350z you can set to trigger the LIGHT to blink at certain RPM. For the default the this was set to 6700 rpm (red line) when the car reach to 6700 the light will blink, and you need to change to higher gear at that time. I CANNOT set the RPM back to 6300 ..
Is this true? Or is he lying? It doesn't sound right to me...

Yes, the manual said so. It's only with 6MT. You can set the shift point warning light.

Unless the shift light is broken, you can set it to virtually any RPM. It starts blinking at 500(?) rpms prior to the target setting and stays on after you exceed that setting. A lot of folks used it during break in to remind them not to exeed 4K. It can be turned off by setting it to its highest setting (7200 I think).

the post is very confusing, whats the question?

there is a shift light indicator, redline is 6600RPMs.

you set the light to whatever you want, it will BLINK 500 RPMs before the set amount, at the set amount, it will stay on.

it can be anything between like 2000 and 8000, just keep going up and itll roll over to 2000 again. I keep mine at 6400, blinks at 5900, solid at 6400, when it blinks I know its coming, when its solid I know I shift.

I was just wondering. Thanks everyone for the help. Simple question, simple answer. So you can delete this thread if you want Ares.
