Default And this is why I usually never use automatic car washes

So today i decided to get my car washed. I was in a hurry so i went to the automatic car wash near my house because I have been there before and never had any issues. Well I got the car cleaned and drove back home. The second I got out of my car I noticed a big ****ing scratch on my door... it starts at the front drivers side fender and ends at almost the end of the door. It took some paint off completely on the door. I drove my *** back up there (almost in tears and about ready to throw up)... and made a complaint. The owner/boss wasn't there so I talked to the next guy in charge. I filled out a claim and he gave me a number to contact the owner. So I called and left him a very nice and polite voice mail so he should be calling me back. The guy said the owner would be gone all weekend. Both me and the guy working there took some pictures on our phones and when I got back home i took pics. I know for a fact that the scratch was not there today... i looked at my car and I didn't see it. Its very very noticeable. So my question is what else can I do at this point? I feel that I have done everything possible on my end at this time. Tomorrow morning I have a few shops that I'm going to go to and get a estimate so that I can have the papers ready for him when I meet up with him. Here are a few pictures that I snapped really fast. I'm open to any advice. Im so stressed right now about this whole situation. 99% of the other time I hand wash my car... and this is why. Im kind of mad at myself right now for being lazy and using an automatic wash but I still dont think that its my fault... who is ready for some serious drinking tonight?? I know I am.Thanks in advance.

oh, p.s. if youre going to take your car to an auto wash, make sure you go to one that doesnt use brushes or anything on your car, just water power. i have at least 2 that i can go to around my house that just spray water without brushes

Nothing beats washing by hand. The good old hands on bond between car and owner.

That does suck man. I'm sure I would cry.

Honestly dude, it's not THAT bad. I can barely even see it. I wouldn't stress too much about it. SIKE!!! That's ridiculous dude!! The owner is definately responsible for the damage. Unfortunately, I'm not sure how he'll handle it, but I would guess that he'd say something to the effect of "show me some proof that my wash did this to your car, and that it wasn't already like that". I would highly depressed right now if my car got hurt like that from an autowash. Sorry about your luck bro.

thanks guys... yea, never again will I use a automatic car wash. Im kinda planning on the guy trying to deny it, I have a feeling this is going to get very ugly. I will keep you all posted on the status of this. And the reason im really stressed is that because im like most of the people here... im really really attached to my car and i spend so much time and money on it.. im just disgusted right now. Now its time to watch the Suns play and start my drinking.

You knew beforehand that auto car washes sucked so why did you do it?

Lesson learned... Don't do it again.

Though I always harp on the scratch machines, that scratch is actually the worst I have seen out of a car wash. Most of the scratches I've seen could be buffed out. At this point the owner could fully deny that he caused the damage. You would probably have to take him to small claims court to get him to repair it, of which would probably cost you more time and money than it might be worth. You will definately need to get your fender and door repainted.

The owner may admit to the damage but I doubt it. If 50 cars were washed that day why was yours the only one damaged?

Court is fruitless. You have to prove your case with “a preponderance of evidence.” The only evidence that you have is a damaged car.

This is an insurance claim.
