Coasting is illegal in some states. Below is the RCW for Washington State.

http://apps.leg.wa.gov/RCW/default.aspx?cite=46.61.630

Also, it's probably best to wait on discussing an accident on a forum until you know you're not being sued. Just my two cents.

he's obviously being sarcastic. You however, i'm not sure....

to the op, do you have manual or an auto. considering what i've read from your story it's most likely that it's an auto. an auto transmission is never meant to be in neutral unless you're being towed. Also, I've stated this many many times, coasting in neutral does not save gas....

Yeah, I'd be surprised if he isn't facing a hefty lawsuit in the near future. Women don't go flying down a 100ft enbankment and leave in ambulances without remembering it for quite some time.......

Agree. I think this could get expensive. Very expensive.

That was what I was going to ask. I'll never understand some people.

Probably. If you are over 20, you quickly realize that a vehicle in neutral has no engine braking.

i believe unless your hitting the brakes the shifter or saftey switch will not allow you to go into reverse or park while driving. only into lower gears and back up to N. so putting it into R or P's out of the question. My guess would be you put it into a LOW *** gear and the tranny dropped down to such a HIGH RPM that the wheels slip locked up on you. Like when your in a manual and drop a gear in the rain, car does slip a tad in the rear.
BUT I dont believe your gonna try to save gas agian anytime soon!

I agree with the poster who questioned making a public display about this incident this early on. I wouldn't be advertising the manner in which the accident happened, lawyers have amazing abilities when it comes to digging up information online for law suits.

I would keep the whole nuetral thing on the low for a while.....

It was probably the womens fault.

I mean c'mon. Four women in one van? That's a recipe for disaster.

(just to let you guys know, if you throw a K&N filter in your '07 gt500, you'll get 53 more hp. the advertisement told me.)

My guesses are that he has a MT and pressed the clutch in putting it into neutral. THen he gained speed going down the hill and released the clutch in the lower gear that he started in.

THis is the only logical explanation i can think of.

I thought you were joking about this. K&N really advertises it!
