Why no VDC for AT?
If I'm reading the Nissan specs right, VDC is not available with the automatic transmission. I'm curious as to why not. Is it a marketing thing? An engineering thing?
I'm soon to be placing my order for an 04 Performance model with MT, but inquiring minds wanna know.

It is more of a model thing than a transmission thing.
The VDC comes with the Performance model and Track model which only come with Manual transmission.
And the VDC doesn't come with the Base, Enthusiastic which come with AT or MT, or Touring model with AT.
The only odd one is the Touring with MT which is really a Performance model with leather and Bose because when you choose the MT for the Touring model you get the Performance model items like VDC, Tire Pressure monitoring and 18" wheels.

The VDC is an amazingly good stability control system, which I'm sure took a lot of development and testing to perfect.
Repeating this task for the manual transmission would likely be a costly feat for Nissan. Being that Nissan is trying to make every car as profitable as possible now, their market research probably showed that VDC was not as large a selling point on automatics and thereforth decided to save on extra engineering costs.
Just my guess.
