Default Do you guys have a difficulty shifting into 6 gear?

shifting from 1 through 5 are smooth, buth 6 gear takes more effort to get into...sometimes impossible...Is this normal? I have a 07 base and just had the slave cylinder recall done. I only have 2,500 miles on the car, and I couldnt remember how the shifting was prior to the recall (lack of freeway driving).

Do you mean resistance going in, or it doesn't want to engage?
There's a slight adjustment in the shifter guide and if it's off a little then there will be a slight metal piece that stops the shifter from going smoothly into 6th.

Well, I would have a tech look at it. Especially since the car is under warranty.

This is a joke:

I can't seem to either. I keep pushing up on the shifter but the damn thing won't shift into 6th.. I think my automatic is broken.

Are you possibly pushing down on the stick? There is a guard that prevents the transmission from being putinto reverse while moving forward, or something to that effect. If you're pushing down, which is the way to shift into reverse, it could be interfering with that. Just an uneducated guess.

I think it's just that 6th isn't like 4th and 2nd. It's not straight down, a little over. I don't know how long you've been driving it, but if you're fresh, it's just getting used to.

If you're used to it and it's just starting to be a problem, then yes, by all means. check that **** out.

Is “impossible to shift from fifth to sixth gear” normal? You know the answer.

Unfortunately getting Nissan to duplicate the problem may be a different story.

You should have gotten an AUTOMATIC. I remembered how the MT guys use to trash the AT guys. But Hmmm...... Now it seems that there is always a new thread concerning how their manual transmission is going bad, grinding or not engaging a gear. Looking back, I'm glad I did the right choice for picking 5AT.

there is no better feeling in the world when u know u have 300hp under your foot and your doing all the shifting.. automatics its like press the gas and steer.
Im not clowning at all on auto i have driven my share
Acura CL 3.0 Auto -150 shot N.O.S crazy fu**en ride
BMW750Li.. That thing so smoothly puts u back in ur seat when u get on it..
All im saying is if i could have the most expensive fastest street car in the world i dont know why i would prefer it to be a MT. Paddle shifting is cool but it still takes away the feeling of stomping on ur clutch.

*edit... there are many better feelings.. Ex. 500hp under your foot! haha

You shouldn't be required to CHANGE any fluid on that car if you only have 2500 miles.
