Default Worse gasmileage maybe? Handling way worse?

I have a question I need answered cause if so, im taking them out tonight! I have 2 12's in my trunk not under the bar just in the open trunk the big part if you know what i mean. They ARE drilled in though. Their pretty heavy, normal 12's... Would this make my gasmileage alot worse, and also how much worse does my handling get?

I think between the subs, box, and amp should be around 200 pounds, or a little more than the difference between a full tank of gas and an empty tank of gas. I would say there could be a slight difference in gas mileage, but nothing much. It's like always driving with someone in the passenger seat.

Did you account for how much weight those screws added?

My god. I'm surprised the car is even drivable. I'd have a claims inspector check it out, it may be totaled, you might be able to get a nice little check from it. It's your best bet at this point man, sorry for your loss.

Thats crazy. Those must be the heaviest 12's on the planet. They filled with gold? IMHO you shouldnt be able to tell the difference. Not with a couple 12's...no way.

200 pounds makes a big difference.
If you were to race a Z just like yours but without those subs he would probably pull you every time.
I would take them out (Or never allow them in my car)

Why would that work out better? You still have the extra weight right? You just moved it. If you want performance (speed) you dont care about having a box the end.

ok so i took out the subs just now and testdrive it hit it and it felt alot lighter.. i picked up the box though it felt like it was only about 70 pounds at the most.. maybe it felt like it was affecting it alot because it was right on the rear tires

It blocks exhaust noise quite a bit so it effects the butt dyno more. My sub/box/amp/wiring weigh in at well over 100 lbs, and 100 lbs can be a tenth or two in the 1/4 and a mph or two in trap. That said - I have a 40 lb 10" sub and a reinforced box with a bit of tweaking, 0 gauge, etc. So my setup probably is heavier than yours. I feel a bigger difference than there is however because of the extra rear grip, and the lack of noise.

Ditch the 12's , thumping around town like a homie is a thing of the past.
