Richard,

I can understand charging $2,000 more than even Nissan expects people to pay (MSRP) for someone just walking in off the street. But for a loyal family that has purchased 7 cars and brought a considerable amount of additional business to Regal for more than a decade its not right to try to squeeze that extra $2,000 out of us just because others will pay it. Managers in the past appreciated our loyalty and often went out of their way to show it. Consider my shock when all of a sudden that appreciation disappears and Regal is more interested in that extra $2,000 rather than decades more of repeat business. Regal thought it was a fair thing to do to a loyal customer like me although even Nissan North America put pressure on the dealers to not go over MSRP. Further more I don't appreciate getting emails saying "guess you are not serious about buying a 350Z" simply because I didn't think it was appropriate to pay over MSRP. We have never had to pay MSRP on a Nissan but paying sticker is absolutely justified for a 350Z (there is no need to discount since they are hot). As soon as you go over MSRP its obvious you are trying to take advantage of the customer which is why NNA frowns on it. I know it was nothing personal from you but I didn't like how the owner and managers forgot about our past for $2,000.

Good for you kroams, nice avatar by the way, when I first called a dealer here in FL I almost saw my dream go away when they asked for 7k-10K over MSRP, I was not going to pay that much no matter what, your experience just goes to show how their loyalty only goes as far as the current deal and their greed always gets the better of them instead of looking at the big picture plus realizing that MSRP still gave them a nice profit in addition to not having to put ANY effort into selling the car, and then they wonder why people feel about car salesman the way they do, they never stop amazing me, they are pond scum lowest of the low Just in case you didn't know how I felt about the subject. I wish we could buy direct from manufacturer dealers aren't needed.

Thanks Westpak. I like your avatar too! I completely agree with what you are saying that not only are they having to do NO work selling it (we are coming to them) AND usually they can't even get MSRP (should be happy actually having a Nissan that can sell for sticker) the dealers get greedy and want even more. Enough to make you sick.

AMEN Brother Kroams! They are already making $2500-$3500 profit (plus dealer holdback) on the car at MSRP for goodness sake! THEN they try to gouge even deeper with "dealer prep" charges and Ad fees, and "protection packages". It never ends. I can't believe your dealer would throw away a customer and his family's ten year history of loyalty for 2K! Pitiful!

You blood sucking leaches, just because someone else is doing it (selling over MSRP) you can't do right by your longtime customer and sell at MSRP? What a cop out!! This is a program that Nissan has a lot riding on and there are a lot enthusiasts that did you and them a favor by preordring sight unseen, the problem is that the dealer doesn't have as much riding on this, if Nissan fails they just change the sign on the front and start selling Yugo's or something else, to them a car is car and they are not taking into account Nissan's wishes and not to try and Screw us, for your information not all dealers are selling over MSRP why couldn't you??? My blood just gets boiling when these guys start crying the blues, why don;t you try working for a living instead of lurking around waiting to F@#% someone.

As a resident of Atlanta, I'm glad to see this exchange. I know which dealer I won't go to when I get my Z in fact, I'll spread this around as much as possible! The fact that you are a loyal customer should have been enough for them to waive the overcharge. Amazing how greed makes people unbelievably short sited (and stupid)!

I didn't preorder so I'll be one of those lining up at dealers as soon as the showroom stock finally gets in.

Fred.

Default Regal Nissan . . .

I don't know about anyone else who pre-ordered from Regal, but I didn't have to pay anything over MSRP. Hopefully Mr. Jennings is correct and I will soon have my Z. I will be shopping at Regal for my next Nissan and I will tell everyone where I got my Z for sure.

whassup richard aka agassi. thanks for calling me yesterday. i just wanted to say that i think regal has done a decent job with the presell program. and richard was vey sincere in his appraoch with the sale. i went to several other dealers in atl and decided that regal was the best choice. hopefully i can come by there on the 5th of sept and see the Z.

Then why did Kroams have to pay 2K over MSRP if you didn't?

Do you think that I don't know that I am in one of the most hated professions there are?!
Why do you think that is? Again, I'm speaking in general here not about you specifically. I don't know squat about your dealership. What I do know is that in general, a dealer will do whatever he can to gouge the customer for all he can. You would think we preorderers would get our asses kissed by you guys since you don't have to so much as lift a grubby finger to get your 2-3K profit on this car. We've done all the research for you. We've learned about every nook and cranny of this car. We've not only not seen any of your ads.....WE ARE your ads for goodness sake! You would think we would deserve better.

I'll say it again.......PITIFUL!

Ah, the power of the internet! 7 cars and 10 years of loyalty and you can't give the guy a break? Oh well, gotta feed that family. Get 'em some prime rib with that extra $2k. Tell them to enjoy it because it's Mac & cheese for a while after that.

That is NOT how i remember it Richard.. I came into your show room about Mid Feb. (where i have been for repairs on 3 diff nissans and bought one there, too) . and salesman said that 9 of the 12 350zs were bought for 2k over MSRP... and either i buy it that way.. or go away.. Pretty much his attitude.. So I did.. about 5 days later I bought mine out of town.. MSRP.. and 0 down..
They know how to do business.. Maybe you did refund the extra 2K.. but you lost me..
YOU guys missed a sale.. MY dealer said my 350Z is coming in on Sept 3rd.. I'll have to drive a little bit further.. but IT WILL sure be fun..

That delivery date confirms what Gwinnett Place Nissan told me today. I'm one of the first and it will be first week September.

BTW, my position is available and so will the car if I take delivery. I will be posting an ad in the Journal the next day for it at MSRP plus the tax etc.
