How many miles on delivery?
Reading through I've noticed that there is some concern about dealers using our cars for demos, etc before delivery. Anyone know how many miles should be expected on the odometer upon delivery? I'm guessing less than one mile but don't know... how much motion between the assembly line to the boat, off the boat onto a train/truck.. off the train/truck to the lot... ya know...

I think anything less than 10 miles would be normal. Anything more than that could be evidence of a test drive and/or joyride that happened before you arrived to claim the car. You would certainly have more than a single mile on the car just from loading/unloading the car. Add to that a short drive as part of the PDI process and you would end up with a handful of miles.
I have only purchased two new cars before my Z, and they had 9 & 38 miles on them at delivery. The 9 mile car had been on the lot for less than a week, while the 38 mile car had been there long enough for a few test drives.

I was told the mileage would be around 1-2 miles.

One to two? Wow. That would be a pretty tough bill to fill (I think). Maybe 10 to 19 is more reasonable.

Nissan's standard PDI checklist has a road test section with five items to check, so I imagine there will be a few miles on the car.
Don't know if the car is also tested after it rolls off the line in Japan. Might be hard to do that for a mass-produced car.
My factory ordered BMW M3 had 7 miles on it at the time of delivery.

Five miles or less. Any more and someone has taken your car for a ride. Be there when it comes off the truck... Dont leave without it. When some one takes your car for a "ride" he is not breaking it in gently like it should be.
I only take delivery of cars off the truck. You know how people test drive!!

Joe is right, when I bought my 01' Vette, I was there before the car got PDI'd. It had 3.9 miles on the car when I took it off the lot. Only had 1.8 when it got to the dealer. No offense to Nissan but the guys working on the cars are not going to treat your car with any more care than a base model Sentra. If you have the time I would watch it from the truck to PDI to your garage.
