Hey neighbor

I got pulled over on Duarte and Baldwin once for not having a front plate, but thats awhile ago. But guess what...just today, I got a ticket for not having a license plate near the westwood UCLA area.........while PARKED! Can you believe that!!! No Joke. When I first saw the ticket sticking on my windshield, I thought the parking meter had expired. But as I walked closer, the parking meter still had time on it. After I open up the ticket, I almost fainted...heres what I saw.

Thank you Mr. Parking Enforcement Officer!

btw, do u happen to know how to install clear corners by any chance?

Well, not sure why did he decided to pull me over. I wasnt speeding or anything. He just harassed me a bit about the modifications, and gave me the "no front license plate".

Which clear corner are you talking about? the headlight housing or the front reflectors?

oh yeah, i heard you can only have 3 chances for having no front plate at a fine of $25 each pull over. but the third time it is a moving violation, so maybe u should put it on the front lol.

i guess im just going to risk not having it on the front...normally im in SD for school, and only in l.a when im home. i hear that l.a is pretty bad about it because of the cameras or somethin..idunno. but after one ****, im gonna go buy the grill license plate.

oh yeah, i mean the front reflectors..do u have clear corners installed?

Yeah. No plate looks 10 times better. Hey you goes to UCSD? my GF goes there too, but now shes back in LA for the summer too. For the clear reflector, you can do a search on it, some of the members have posts regarding it.

My Z is not here yet...04' due in Sep. Right now, im driving my eclipse...not for long, cuz I just sold it and need to ship it out of state next week. By then, I will be driving my GFs Mini Cooper.

BTW, what model/color is your Z? Im getting the Enthu/PPW. After I take delivery of mine, maybe we can go to the SoCal meets together.

In NJ, you can take your front plate off but you have to display it on top of your dash. I think that looks better also. It's a compromise.

If you are going to take it off, I say carry the plate with you in the car. That way when you get pulled over, you can give them the excuse "I just came out of Wal-Mart and the plate was knocked off. I am on my way to the Auto Parts store to get new bolts so I can re-mount it". It's worth a shot. Otherwise you know you are going to get the ticket...

haha this post is SOO dated, this topic was being talked about a year or two ago! hehe.. I've gotten a good 7 or so front license plate citations within the last few years.. its an absolute joke out here in CA.

If you want to resolve the issue with parking enforcement, its simple: put a plate on your dash when you park. SO FAR, this has kept the parking enforcement police away. However, when I was parked in Beverly Hills a motorcycle cop decided to stop and give my CAR a citation while it was parked, with the plate on the dash. YES, they have nothing better to do in Beverly Hills, welcome to my reality.

I actually dont mind NOT having a plate. Why? Because its gotten me out of a lot larger citations! I could have gotten cited for speeding, sliding my car around turns, exhibition of speed, you name it.. I've been let off too many times its not even funny. BUT, before they let me go they always throw me the front license plate ticket. I figure, $10 dollars is a small price to pay.. when compared to how expensive traffic school and paying for a speeding ticket can be. Atleast the front license plate gives them something easy to write and fills their quota.

I got pulled over on Saturday July 5th for no front plate, and I had been drinking (relax...I was sober). The cop pulled a U-ey and nailed me. I got away with a warning after a quick drunk test. He was just trolling for drunks, but remember, no front plate gives the cops excuses to pull you over. Just be careful on big party nights. Also, I live in Ohio, and if you do to, then support Ohio House bil 31 to repeal the requirement for front plates.

Peptid,

Off topic - what do they make you do in Ohio for drunk driving suspicion? And if you refuse, are you incriminated? Thanks.

Dan

I still say as long as you have it in your car somewhere (in view preferably), then you will not get the ticket. I think that NJ requires them because laser speed traps pick up the plate on the front of your car.

So there will never be any legislation to get rid of them here.

has anyone had a ticket and then the no license plate thrown on top of it? like speeding and no license plate. i think that would be rather jerk-like of the cop, but then again if they pull u over for no license plate.

ive had a mustang for about 2 years with no license plate in the front and it hasnt been pulled over yet.

MY cousin and I go to the same school...he said he spotted a silverstone 350z near the Price Center a couple months back. I was hoping it was a professor's car so I could mess with him/her! =)

Anyhow, If you see a black Z this coming fall..while parking on campus..give me a holla.
