My friend just bought a slightly damaged 04 JDM 350Z (24533kilometers on the teller) on an auction site a while ago. It just arrived last week. He bought it for $6000, and was about $9000 by the time it arrived (shipping and everything).
The risky and sometimes fun part about buying used/damaged cars from overseas is that you never really know what to expect. They sometimes have more damage than told. But once in a while they don't look at what mods it has.
His came with Volk Racing Rims 18" on 275 tires, very clean. And also a HKS Exhaust. The car doesnt run yet, it needs a new radiator, windshield, front bumper, airbags, dash(its torn in the middle)and paintjob (not really a must, but he wants it to look as clean as possible, cuz it has a few minor dings and scratches). We're wondering if it has a tune or not. Should be up and running in a week or two.
Anyway, Point of this thread, Someone told him the JDM Z's have more HP than USDM. Is there any truth in that?

All i know is you payed 9K for a busted up Z that will never be in like new condition due to the nature of wrecked cars.
After repairs, he will end up paying a lot more than just getting a Z in the US.
But **** our economy, keep sending the money overseas.
And BTW gas is 4 dollars a gallon and i cant see a light at the end of the tunnel. The Apocalypse is near...

no they dont but he might have thought that because their power rating is based on PS not HP so for instance a 2008 Z in japan is like 312PS and 306HP here

The original owner of my Z paid around 55K (spankin' new) to get it here 3 years ago. I also know PLENTY of people overhere who have bought slightly damaged cars, and have ABSOLUTELY no problem with them today.
Used cars also go for cheap on the auction sites, a local cardealer (www.dela-automotive.com) just sold a '00 Supra TT with 66kilometers on the odometer for only 22K.(Used, not damaged, it also had 18" Ruff Racing Rims on 275 tires).

Last time i checked 80% of 6000 isnt 3000 but i can just do basic math so I not a genius or anything.

My bad, I forgot to state that it's 80% on "non-damaged" vehicle's.
A lot of people try to rip off customs by taking off parts and making them seem like damaged cars before they leave they're original destinations.
And why in God's name would you want an instant Ban? Because i dont care about some other country's economy?
