Another what 350z to buy thread
Hi
I have done hours of research into this so i am not going to ask the common 'what are the differences between the models?' question. I am truely stuck on what model year of a 350z to get or even if a g35 would be more appropriate.
1. Were there any differences in cabin size/driver room between 2005 and 2006?
2. I currently drive a 2000 Honda Prelude which does have a backseat but it is very tiny. In owning the car a year and a half i can count on one hand the number of times someone has been back there. I still live at home and am in college so i do have access to many other high occupency vehicles, but do you all think that for a dd the utility of having a backseat/more storage room warrents the purchase of a g35 over the z?
3. i would like this car to have a warrenty and in my research i have found that an extendable warrenty is possible through the dealership or some other means. Assuming the standard three year warrenty applies, if i buy a 2005 if this still an option?
4. Insurance costs. I do not want a quote, just a comparison. Does the 350z have an insurance cost that is only a little higher, 2x more expensive, 3x more expensive than the g35? If anyone has any insight on how these costs relate to a Japansese import similar to a Prelude, please provide it.
The Prelude is very low to the ground and has a very responsive suspension. I would still like that feel and after test driving the 350z and the g35, it seemed that the 350z appealed more to my tastes. The only problem was that it was a little less comfortable than the g35 due to my height (i am 6'5).
Any help would be appreciated

1. No
2.No, I go to college also with a z, no problems, and dd
3.Depends on where you buy. And what mods are done to the car to void warranty. But if you buy through a dealer, Im sure they can extend a warranty for a price.
4.Not sure. Was about the same as my srt4 though.
Im 6"4, and I think the z is very comfortable. Its all about what YOU want.

Welcome. Cabin space is essentially the same in all coupes.
Not sure which is most suitable for your needs.
You can buy a warranty for any vehicle.
For insurance costs contact your agent.

i had an 01 lude before i got the z, granted it had about 20k in to it(none into the engine) but i still think i can give you good advice
the z has a fair amount of storage space its just pretty flat and i have never had a problem with not enough room
it drives so much nicer than a prelude and the fit and finish is a bit better to, no squeaks or noises while driving.
as for insurance it is more that the prelude was but not a lot more maybe 20%

I was in the same boat back when I was selling my Lude too: go with the G35c b/c I had gotten used to the back seat/ sunroof, or go with the Z for a more visceral driving experience. I went with the Z b/c the G was just sort of "blah". The interior is standard fare in the Prelude, so the Z interior won't be too hard to get used to. Handling is light years ahead of the Prelude, so that is a no issue; b/c of the weight and suspension, the Z is better than the G35 as well.
The Z is the car that "talks" to me, love at first site sort of thing. Glad I went with the Z again

no, but if you had done a real search, each of those questions you have asked have been done numerous times before, and have been answered.
here is the answer to your insurance question, in that link i provided

the warranty stuff is information you get from the dealer and the back seat vs no back seat is a dilema you need to work out for yourself.
next thing you are probably going to ask is for someone to buy the car for you, since you want us to do everything else.

not really sure where that came from but we can just sweep that one under the rug for now

This is a type of question that CAN be answered because the proportion of cost of insurance for a g35 and 350z is going to be the same. The cost is not going to be the same which anyone with half a Z04 brain can figure out.
That was a quarter of the reason i made the OP: to find out other peoples' experiances with this matter.

ok i dont feel like quoting all of your drab text but
1. i never stated i knew the answer to the insurance question and never said it would be easy to figure out. you need to read my posts more carefully z04
2. i searched many pages and did not find the answer. posts from 50+ pages back may be outdated or too old to be any use
3. another reading example, this is how the english language works:
how do i know if the kitchen is on fire?
how does the kitchen know if i am on fire?
simple changes (rewording) created a new question so of course the questions i am asking are new. as i stated before older posts can be time sensitive. applying to the warrenty question, while in page 50 of this forum's posts, it may have been possible to get a warrenty but now it may not. so, regardless if i had found something similar to what i was looking for, i did not find the answer

whatever, try and justify it all you want, you was looking for a fast answer and did not want to read all the information posted by others before you. i sure hope you do not try and give me a spelling lesson next i suggest you go back to your research. since this information on here is "outdated" might i suggest you go to google.com or nissanusa.com for your warranty information and call your insurance agent for the most accurate answer on which will cost more.

People seem to get awfully cranky when their precious boards are clogged with posts by those asking questions that have already been answered...
Hey maybe you could just not reply if it's that annoying to you? On second thought, nah, go ahead, start flaming people.
Awesome! Lovely way to greet a new board member and "fellow" Z owner/enthusiast.

i have a 2000 prelude also! after getting the Z, this is pretty much how i see my prelude now.

the z is everything i wanted that the prelude wasn't. but i do think the prelude is one hell of a good looking car. here is a pic of the two side by side.

get the Z you will love it!
