Question How do YOU do it?

I don't know if this is a question just from a rookie, as I just got my Z a month ago, or if it is a matter of personal preference. I think it is more personal preference, but anyways, here goes....

When stopping, do you downshift, using you engine/transmission to help you stop, or just drop out of gear and use the brakes? Which do you think is better?

I go into neutral and use my brakes... less strain on the tranny IMO

I slam on the gas until i'm 10 feet from the light and slam on the brakes

Brake pads are cheaper than gear boxes.

Use the brakes, downshift to keep the transmission in the proper gear if I need to use it.

Or I just slide the transmission into neutral and use the brakes. Brake pads are cheaper than transmissions.

I just leave it in whatever gear it is in, use the brakes till I slow down enough to put the clutch in so it doesnt stall.

putting it in nuetral wastes gas.

Brakes are for stopping , clutch is for shifting.
Depending on the situation i do select the proper gear as i'm slowing down.

Transmission vs brakes is a monthly subject. There is no consensus.

neutral, then brake, and at slow crawls I'll slow down with the ebrake sometimes.

Down shift, It has gotten me out of a couple sticky situations when slowing down and having to accelerating out of a possible accident. There are an endless amount of terrible drivers in santa barbara

I downshift when I know Im not coming to a stop. But if I am approaching a light I will put it in neutral to come to a complete stop.

I use my ebrake all the time.

Foot brake is for women.
