Default WTF Just my LUCK!

So I heard a good 'ole rattle coming from the engine the other day. I got the best warranty there is when i bought the z. And thank god that was covered, my cat converter is "broke". So they ordering me a new one, guy said that the part is $800+. But warranty is covering that.

Now...

There is a clicking noise coming from the rear axle when I hit the gas, I thought that would be covered by warranty, but no they said the rear axle has to get lubed up and that it will cost me $300+ out of my pocket.

JUST MY LUCK!

$300 just to get something lubed? I call BS. Keep nagging the stealership until you get what you want.

That would be a special lubricant made from unobtainium.

How many miles are you suppose to lube your rear axle? I never heard such of a thing, and I only put 10,000 miles (Total: 28,000 Miles now) on this sucker. hah

Go online and check out teh TSB for rear axle click. It should definintely be a FREE fix for you. I got mine done a couple months ago totally free. All they do is relube a part, labor is about an hour if they do both sides. DO NOT pay out of pocket to get that done.

You should search for Axle Clicking TSB.. or bring the other kind of lube with you (butt lube).

Butt lube works for this? Maybe I should bring it to the stealership and maybe we can have a lemon party!

Also, I bet they are going to say all it needs is lube, and that isn't covered by warranty. Even though they should just replace the part so it wont ever do it again? or am I wrong?

Anyone got an idea when I call these **** ups in about 30 min.

So TSB Rear Axle Clicking is a free fix? How can I argue that with the dealers.

$300 is pure BS, mine was covered under warranty but i asked the service mgr how much if i didnt catch it in my 3/30,000....he said 180 for labor and parts.

and i am in canada with a USDM car- so you should be getting that for less money and less hassle (CDN dealers hate USDM cars)

just FYI, the easy fix is to just tighten the hub nut with an impact gun.

Remove wheel, remove cotter pin, smoke down hub nut TIGHT!, replace cotter pin, replace wheel. Repeat on other side.

no more what we used to call "crickets" back in 02/03 when the cars first came out

That is total BS. Nissan has issued a TSB ( Technical
Service Bulletin) for this problem. It will require repacking the axles, but is a warranty item. If they give you a problem go on the internet or call Nissan and get a copt of the TSB.

So I called them at the stealership, they told me it is $300+ for labor and the lubricant. He says

"rear axle is not part of the powertrain so your warranty wont cover for it. There is nothing i can do, you can call up nissan"

And a TSB is not a RECALL.

So that really did NOT work.
