Default Valvoline Fluid OK for Transmission and rear diff?

Hi guys,

Getting ready to do 1st fluid change on 2005 350Z just purchased with 130,000 miles.

Is this Valvoline 75W-90 OK for both the Manual Transmission and the rear diff. It says it's GL4 and GL5 compatible.

Valvoline SynPower SAE 75W-90 Full Synthetic Gear Oil Valvoline SynPower SAE 75W-90 Full Synthetic Gear Oil

And has anyone used this Triax fluid for their transmission and any opinions?

TRIAX Synergy Gear MT 75W-90 GL-4 (MT-90); Full Synthetic Manual Trans Fluid TRIAX Synergy Gear MT 75W-90 GL-4 (MT-90); Full Synthetic Manual Trans Fluid

Thanks!!

For the 6MT, I highly recommend Redline MT-85, it was specifically formulated for manual transmissions on Z32/Z33 & G35s.
But to answer your question, the FSM does recommend API GL-4 75W-85 or GL-4 75W-90 for the 6MT. I recommend staying away from 75W-90 unless you live in a very hot climate or plan to track the vehicle.

The FSM recommends API GL-5, SAE 80W-90 (1.4L) for the rear differential.

Do you have a factory equipped vLSD or are you open diff?
Cheers!

Thanks for the response. As far as I know, the rear diff is still OEM, so I believe it's the VLSD. Running the VIN and other features lead me to believe the car is a Touring model, which I believe came with the VLSD. Would that change the fluid suggestion?

I thought it might, but after some checking, no it won't change the diff fluid you run. The vLSD unit inside the pumpkin is sealed (not serviceable). I never payed much attention to the vLSD requirements since I started with an open diff base model and later on upgraded to a OS Giken Clutch style LSD. In short, whether you have an Open diff or vLSD, the fluid type/capacity is the same.
Cheers!

Thanks for the input. We went with the Redline MT-85 for the MT and the Pennzoil 80w-90 for the diff.
